When we got to WDW we put all our food/drink money on a gift card at WDW and use that everywhere when we got to Disneyland will we be able to do the same thing there too? It's been a few years and i can't remember what we did b4 that and things change too!! Thanks again! :thumbsup2

I believe a lot of folks do this instead of the dining plans. I love it & plan on doing it when we go, one less thing to think of!

We always do this, it really helps us stay on our budget too. But some of the carts are still cash only so beware of that. All the restaurants though, anywhere they can swipe a card...they take the fun card. :)

You can now... most vendor carts have now been equipped with point-of-sale registers.

One to increase accountability of the Cast Member and two, outdoor carts are now assigned to the nearest quick-service restaurant.

I would keep some cash on hand, because I think not all ODV carts are equipped with registers that have card swipers, but most are.

ODV is split. Foods went to the local food site such as turkey legs and popcorn. They all got some form of register and can use credit cards and gift cards. ODV kept the cart maintenance and storage and those carts that sold packaged goods such as cotton candy, ice cream bars, balloons, and toys/glow in the dark stuff.

Definitely bring cash or you can use a credit or debit card to buy Disney Dollars. It will be like a purchase of a t-shirt on your credit or debit card. No bank fees either.

How to tell if a cart will take credit cards and gift cards.
Is if a nonfood item like balloons and toys? if you say yes then no cards taken.

It is food so does is have a wrapper? NO means you can use a card such as chimichangas, popcorn, and turkey legs for example do not have a sealed wrapper like you would get at a grocery store.

Is the food wrapper sealed and have nutritional information and ingredients? YES means no card and NO means you should be able to use your card.

Thats not always true. Just look at the person selling. if he/she is working from an apron, then he/she doesnt not take credit cards.

IC bars($3.75-$4.25) and Cotton Candy($3.00) and lemonade cup($3.75) are one of the few FOOD items that cant but purchased with a credit card, however, you will be pointed to the nearest ATM machine. :) No too sure mechurchlady means on the grocery store item though.

Here is an example Albort

ice cream bar
Is it nonfood? No so we continue
Is it a food that has a wrapper? yes
Is it a food that has ingredients and sealed wrapper like you would find in a grocery store. YES so it will not take credit cards because it is stadium vending which is ODV still and not foods.

By grocery store I mean "does it look like it is something that is found in a grocery store?" like the ice cream bars are sold in groceries and so are the lemonade cups. Turkey legs do not have a sealed wrapper so they are part of foods thus they will have a register of some sort to take credit and gift cards.

sigh
Ice cream novelties, cotton candy and other prepackaged foods are under stadium vending and thus not with foods.

Look for registers as they take credit and gift cards. Apron or just a till means it is probably no card as they are prepackaged commercially made foods.

Sometimes the manual on how to do things makes things more complicated.:teacher:
