Booked a trip to Disney w/ Dining Plan Plus. Any suggestions for Vegetarians?

Hi! You mean the Disney Dining Plan, right? (I wasn't sure about the "Plus"... if you have Deluxe, then my strategies would change a bit, so let me know!)

OK, so standard plan, you'll need some counter-service and table-service recommendations, right? OK, here goes...

Table Service:

Most table service meals will only have one vegetarian option, and it pays to check out what that will be ahead of time on the WDW site or AllEars.net. However, you can ALWAYS request other things, and the chef will work with you to make something you'd like. I've seen photos, however, of plates of steamed veggies (granted, very LOVELY plates of steamed veggies). Therefore, it pays to check what's available before making your ADR to make sure it sounds good, or pick a buffet!

Magic Kingdom: Crystal Palace (good buffet for vegetarians)

Epcot: La Hacienda de San Angel or San Angel Inn (both of these places have limited veggie menus that are published on Allears.net but NOT on the Disney page), Tokyo Dining (does veggie sushi and veggie tempura), Via Napoli (has AMAZING authentic pizza options... artichokes! truffle oil!), or Coral Reef (has a yummy mushroom phyllo entree, and is a great value on the DDP)

Hollywood Studios: 50s Prime Time Cafe (fun atmosphere and a nice vegetarian pasta dish), Sci-Fi Dine-In (has a seared tofu dish which is supposed to be very tasty, and, again, fun atmosphere)

Animal Kingdom: it's gotta be Tusker House (v. good buffet for vegetarians)

Beyond the Parks: Wolfgang Puck Cafe (in DTD has several veggie options, including pizzas, salads, pastas), Boma (good buffet at AKL, GREAT value on DDP), Sanaa (I've heard mixed reviews of this place, but it's supposed to be a very approachable version of Indian/North African food, and it has several veggie options, too)

Counter Service:

Magic Kingdom: Columbia Harbor House (broccoli slaw hummus sandwich, veggie chili), Golden Oak Outpost (v. yummy veggie flatbread!), Pecos Bill and Ray's (both have veggie burgers)

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons (great variety for vegetarians! Asian option with tofu, v. nice salads with goat cheese, real food court feel with great options), Cafe Tangeriene (Morrocan vegetarian platter with hummus, tabbouleh, falafel, is a GREAT value on DDP)

Hollywood Studios: less exciting options here. Backlot Express has a pretty decent grilled veggie sandwich. Toy Story Planet's got pizza!

Animal Kingdom: Restaurantosaurus (has a great veggie sub served with sweet potato fries!), Pizzafari (veggie pizza with Caesar salad, really nicely themed place), Yak and Yeti counter service doesn't have anything on the menu for vegetarians last time I checked, but if you ask they'll whip up something for you--likely a veggie stir-fry or fried rice.

Beyond the Parks: Wolfgang Puck Express (in DTD has several veggie options), most resort counter service has got something pretty good. (We had make-your-own pasta at POR, and it was really quite good with a nice variety of vegetables and pesto sauce.)

If you do upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan, then my advice would be REALLY different. There is a LOT more variety for vegetarians in appetizers, so I would suggest really doubling up credits and going for the signature meals and going all out, splitting salads and soups and other apps.

Have a great time!!! Hope that helped!!!

Sorry - we've got the Magic Your Way Plus Dining package - 1 Table Service, 1 Counter & 1 snack per day.

Sounds great!!! You should have some luck with the places I mentioned. You'll have a wonderful time. I'd love to hear which ADRs you pick!

Thanks for the tips! We're very excited about the trip. It's our 4th in 6 years, but we haven't been down there the last 3 years, and this will be the first time while I've been a Vegetarian.

I figured a lot of fresh fruit for snacks, cereals for counter service breakfasts but I was worried about sit down meals.

My favorites include the veggie sub at Restaurantosaurus in AK also. In DHS the Sci Fi Dine in Theater has a pretty good tofu dish if you like tofu. Tony's in MK is a TS choice that has a few entrees that are veg. Boma at AKL is fantastic for a vegetarian. Good luck!

My 21 year old DS is a vegetarian. I advised when making ADR's he had great meals. Even at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review. He had no problems at all. Even Le Cellier accommodated him.

There's a HUGE Veg/Vegan thread right here.

I went a few weeks ago and am going back in a few () and had no problems. My vegetarianism is complicated by allergies to mushrooms and mangoes -- each TS has one good veg option, but mushrooms are of course a main dish staple, and one of the TSes we ate at had mango-glazed tofu.

The chefs and servers were awesome, willing to work with me to come up with foods that worked and do some unusual substitutions. For example, at Sci-Fi (mango-glazed tofu) I had them sub tofu for the shrimp in a pasta dish... our server of 15 years said no one had ever done that, lol.

At CSes, you can ask for the allergy book if you're concerned about byproducts or whatnot (not sure how strict you are.) They will call a manager, but again, they were always awesome in working with both myself and my roommate (who is currently going through a process of newly emergent allergies.) Sometimes being persistent helps; we had an experience where we were told something couldn't be done, so we asked where we could find something similar -- that didn't exist either, so the manager went above and beyond to make said thing happen.

I really didn't have terribly much trouble. My number one tip would be to research ahead of time -- I carried a 'cheat sheet' in my bag that broke down the park, restaurants, meals/snack options, and other assorted tips. It was very helpful to either a) be able to suggest a place when we were consider where to eat, or b) know whether to ok or veto a place someone else suggested. There are some good, unique options, but I can see where it would be very easy to get stuck eating veggie burgers every meal if you didn't plan ahead.

Ugh, that got kinda rambly, but hope it helps. :)

For TS I recommend Boma, Tusker House, Sanaa, Kouzzina, La Hacienda, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and any of the Italian restaurants, since they all have lots of pasta and/or pizza options.

For CS; Columbia Harbor House, Sunshine Seasons, Tangerine Cafe, and Wolfgang Puck Express.
