I'm looking for some vegetarian recommendations at WDW parks and resorts. What are some of your favorites? I tend go to counter service places more than table service, but I'm curious to hear about both. Thanks!

Welcome to the DIS Boards! :welcome:

There are some great vegetarian selections at WDW. A few of my favorites:

Columbia Harbour House in MK: The Lighthouse sandwich and the vegetarian chili are both very good.

Liberty Tree Tavern in MK: The Amber Waves of Grain (available at lunch) is delicious.

Plaza Restaurant in MK: Wrapped Up in the Garden was very good. Looks like they recently switched to a vegetarian sandwich on foccaccia bread, but the ingredients look the same as what was in the wrap.

Sunshine Seasons at Epcot: Several great selections, but I really liked the roasted beets and goat cheese salad and the grilled vegetable Cuban sandwich.

Tangerine Cafe: The vegetarian platter is very good!

Cantina de San Angel: There aren't any vegetarian selections listed on the menu, but you can ask for pretty much anything here without meat, and they will fix it for you. I've had nachos and burritos without meat, and both were very good.

Chefs de France: The vegetarian selection here changes often, but everything we've tried has been delicious.

Toy Story Pizza Planet at MGM: The veggie pizza was really good, and you can get a combination that includes a side salad.

Earl of Sandwich at DTD: The Caprese sandwich is wonderful!

Rainforest Cafe at DTD: I think they have the best veggie burger on WDW property.

Yacht Club Galley: The tomato and mozzarella sandwich at lunch is delicious.

ESPN Club on the Boardwalk: The grilled portobello sandwich is great.

WOW!

I want to thank Sassagoula for asking this question and
Kaycee for the great suggestions! :worship:

I have been to Disney lots I usually try and avoind the counter service places becasue i thought they would not have much to choose from-- but it sounds like this is NOT the case. I am printing out Kaycee's choices and will be sure to try them all! ;)

Thank you---

Counter Service:

Tusker House at AK : veggie sandwich w/grapes

Backlot Express at MGM: veggie sandwich

POP Century food court : vegetarian lasagne

Table Service:

The buffets have a good selection of veggies.

Spoodles: try the dip platter. Awesome!

Most of the table service resturants have a vegetarian entree.

Subscribing...I don't think I've got any to add.

Wouldn't a sticky for vegetarian reviews be great???

Hi There.

Been a vegetarian for 18 years now, been to WDW 6 times, and always find good stuff to eat

Columbia Harbor: Veggie chiili bread bowl

Nine Dragons - eggplant sauted in garlic sauce

planet hollywood - vegetable fajitas

cosmic rays - vegetarian burger - loads of fixings

something to eat everywhere

have fun!
xx

At Planet Hollywod, don't settle for what it says in the menu, just tell a waiter you're a veggie and see what reaction you get. We were blown away. Without pausing for breath our waiter turned almost every item bar steak into a veggie alternative and then said that if we required something vegan he would speak with the chef. Amazing. We only wanted to know if they still did a veggie burger! I had a fajita stack and my DH had a jambalya concoction.

Unless it's changed since April, don't even try The House of Blues. Their response was that they could sort us out a cheese Pizza. We didn't stay.

A sticky thread is a thread that has been "stuck" at the top of the page. It won't scroll down and off the page like other threads do. While I, as a vegetarian, agree that a sticky thread of vegetarian favorites is a great idea, we really try to limit the number of stickies we have. If we're not careful, the stickies can take up half the page! So we use caution when sticking threads, making sure that the thread has wide enough appeal to justify being stuck at the top.

And a bump is when someone wants to post simply to "bump" a thread that is scrolling off the page back up to the top.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! That's exactly what I was looking for. They all sound delicious and I can't wait to try them next time I'm at WDW.

When I went this summer this is what I ate:

MGM: I can't remember what this place is called I think it's the ABC commissary (counter service)- i had the tebbouli wrap. Now I've seen plenty of bad reviews on this but I was actually really impressed!

We also ate at prime time cafe (table service) - I had the stuffed pepper which wasn't really that great. I had had this in 2003 and it was amazing, this time it wasn't nearly as good- it had completely different ingredients.

We ate at Sci-Fi dine in which I thought was SOOO GOOD. I had the artichoke dip and the vegetarian bake (I can't remember the actual name) but it was really good, it was on this really nice bed of shredded potatos. I liked it a lot.

At Magic Kingdom I had the lighthouse (?) sandwich which was really good I was VERY impressed.

I'll continue this review later, we have to go grocery shopping right now.

tricia.

This is a great thread! - we are going for 10 days in November and have the dining plan. I, and some of the family are vegetarians. Any other suggestions or great vegetarian food recommendations - let us know!! :) Thanks!

If you are vegan rather than vegetarian, it might help you to know that the popcorn sold in the parks and the chocolate-covered frozen bananas are both vegan (and yummy too).

Hi! Let me preface this by saying I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian and I LOVE to eat in WDW!!!

The veggie burger at B&C is more like a boca style. See here:

At MGM, you can get a kick butt meal at Mama Melrose. 50sPTC also has a vegetarian stuffed pepper.

At Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace, here is what the tofu bowl looks like:

If you want a superb vegetarian TS meal, try Jiko. It is our favorite!

The Tangeriene Cafe veggie platter is really really good!
Also, they have a vegetarian menu at San Angel Inn...if you go to the Cantina for counter service, they are good at creating vegetarian versions of many of their offerings.

Columbia Harbour House's Lighthouse Sandwich and Vegetarian Chili are some of our favorites...but we've never been able to get that bread bowl!

If you happen upon Wolfgang Puck Cafe, don't be tempted by the pumpkin ravioli. It is made with a meat product basting the ravioli.

I've always wanted to try the veggie burger at GFC but never seem to make our way over there.

We made the mistake of asking for the Garden Galley Salad without chicken at Columbia Harbour House. Hidden under the lettuce were specs of chicken, so beware of this menu item alteration.

And I was able to get Tofutti brand soy ice cream at the Main Street Ice Cream Shop. It is not posted on the menu, you have to ask for it. The chocolate was awesome!

The chocolate covered bananas are made with carob instead of milk chocolate?

Hi everyone,
Our family of 5 are all lacto/ovo vegetarians, and while have another amazing meal at Boma on our trip at Xmas time our waitress had said that she had noticed that we had only been getting the vegetarian dishes while at the buffet, in a second she said she would be right back, she brought the head Chef with her who asked us if he could make a special dish for us, we were all thrilled and could not believe our eyes when he came out with a skillet with sauteed tofu, green beans, tempura mushrooms and many other goodies everyone was wondering what made our table so special!
That was hands down our favourite dining experience out of the hundreds we have experienced at WDW over the years.
I would really love it if they would include veggie dogs to their carts and counter service!

Kristin

We love boma too! Although we are not vegetarians they catered to my sister to his actually as far as a vegan. I thought is was very kind of them to take notice of her eating habits

As a vegetarian who lives in Orlando, I eat at the parks quite often. I agree with all that's been suggested already, and I have a few of my own suggestions to add.

Epcot
Le Cellier- Yes it's a steakhouse, but they have a vegetarian option which is very good. The first time I ate there was a portabello mushroom dish, and the second, a butternut squash "risotto". Also, the cream cheese mashed potatoes and pretzel bread are awesome; you could almost make a meal out of those alone!

Tangerine Cafe- They have a vegetarian platter, as well as a tabouleh wrap, both of which are large portions and are excellent!! I alternate between the two when I eat there!

San Angel Inn/Cantina de San Angel- They have a vegetarian menu at San Angel Inn, just ask. They can also leave the meat out. And at the Cantina, they can prepare a black bean burrito for you, same size (huge) as the meat version, and only about $4.50!

MGM Studios
Studio Catering Co- The grilled veggie sandwich is really good, and it comes with a sun-dried tomato aioli, which just adds to the sandwich.

ABC Commissary- The tabouleh wrap is good, though I prefer Tangerine Cafe's version. Also, the veggie lo-mein is good, but I am not sure if it is made with meat stock or not. Something to check into.

Mama Melrose's- The eggplant dish I had was great, along with the flatbreads. Make sure you try this one!!

Magic Kingdom
Columbia Harbor House- I never get tired of the lighthouse sandwich, and I also love the vegetarian chili. If you can't decide, get half and half!!

Peco's Bill's- The salad with jicama slaw is awesome. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I can't wait to go back and get it again!! I think it has chicken on the menu, so just ask for it without.

Resorts
Boma- I love Boma! I won't eat all day if I know I'm going to Boma. Carrot Ginger soup, Butternut squash soup, 3 different kinds of hummus with flatbread, potatoes with afritude, salads, etc!! Mention to your server that you are a vegetarian and see what they have up their sleeves for you!

Hurricane Hanna's at the Beach Club- Located by the pool, they have a great veggie wrap! The veggie wrap at Beaches 'n' Cream is good, but nothing special.

Kona Cafe- great food, they have a vegetarian entree and can make others without meat at your request.

Yacht Club Galley- I have yet to try it (hopefully soon!) but the Mozarella sandwich sounds great.

I'm sure there are many more...I'll post more when I think of them! In the meantime, PM me if you have any questions about a certain restaurant, item, etc.

Also, look for the book, "Vegetarian Walt Disney World and Greater Orlando" by Susan Shumaker and Than Saffel. It has great reviews and suggestions and always makes me hungry when I read it!!

WOW pixie dust - thanks for all the suggestions and reviews! My mouth was watering just thinking about it!!
