Would it be a crazy idea to fly to Vegas, visit a few nights, rent a car, drive to Disney, visit a few nights, drive back to Vegas and fly home? :D I really want to visit both of these places sometime soon. Has anyone ever done this? Was it "too much"?

We live in the Vegas area, and we usually plan a 3-day minimum for a visit to DL. It will take you at least 5 hours to get to DL. If you leave in the early morning you can visit the park in the afternoon and catch the evening shows and fireworks on the first night. Then you can park hop the next two days. A 3day hopper pass would be great. Good Luck!

I would recommend flying from Las Vegas to Orange County (John Wayne) airport and renting a car there, rather than driving. It's about a 6 to 7 hour drive (depending on stops), but about a 1 hour flight.

You might be able to get better airfare (check Southwest and AmericaWest) to the Hollywood-Burbank airport (I think it's called Bob Hope Airport these days). It's an easy one-hour drive to Disneyland in light traffic, 1.5 in moderate traffic. Rush hour--it's anyone's guess!

You should be able to get advance roundtrip airfare for about $90 to $120 online at Southwest. Sometimes, it's even less. Check the websites for both airlines.

OP, that doesn't sound so crazy at all...in fact I bet you saved a couple of hundred dollars using in/out of Vegas (vs. flying in/out of So CA). The drive isn't that bad if you make stops. For a long time there's nothing but deserts...then there's outlet shopping.

If it's crazy, then I'm crazy too. That's almost exactly what we're doing in March. Flying to Vegas, staying 3 days, then driving to DL for 4 days. The only thing different is we're flying home out of Long Beach airport rather than driving back to Vegas. :flower1: The JetBlue rates and schedule are very good for Long Beach.

Our plan is to fly into LAX and rent a car, drive directly to SanDiego for a week, then back to DL for 4 days, then fly to Vegas for the last 3 days of our trip and fly out of Vegas back home. Cost wise, it was only about $60 more to add the Vegas flight into the equation. :flower1:
