My dh and i stayed there in Sept and had a good time , we stayed in the pyramid rooms on the 17th floor had a view of the strip and airport. we rented a car and drove some places but was close enough to walk to amndalay bay and excalibur and NYNY. which we hung out at these places alot . but visited the other hotel. if you get a good rate i would have no problem staying there again but next time i want to stay at Caesars palace. It was so beautiful. Slots were tight at Luxor did have better luck at NYNY and Excalibur.

A friend and I stayed there in March 2002 and really liked it!

The Luxor was exactly our "speed" not as agudy as the Venitian and Bellagio (although I would LOVE to do that someday) and not quite as "budget" as Excalibur and Circus Circus.

The rooms are very nice with good bathrooms. We were on the 20th floor of the pyramid facing away from the strip, so we got a great view of the mountains, etc. I really think being in the pyramid adds something to the experience. My only two complaints (and they are very small) were the very very limited pool hours and the fact that the closest Krispy Kreme was in the Excalibur :)

I'm sure you'll have a great time! Oh, and if you get the chance to see the Blue Man Group, DO IT! We lucked out and called down on our arrival day and managed to get a cancellation--- 6th row center!

Hope this helps!

Stayed there and stayed at Excalibur and we really liked both of them. In the Luxor our rooms were very nice and you could look out over the wall in the hallway see everything down below.
We were there in colder weather so the pool was closed :(
We also really liked Excalibur--of course we had the kids with us that time and the dragon fight at night out front is very cool.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! I will be there w/ DD (4yrs) we are meeting up w/ a girlfriend and her 2 DD's. Obviously we won't be gambling, can anyone reccommend a nice, child friendly restaurant?
Also, does the Luxor offer room service?

lulugirl. You will love it!!! Check out the pool...I have never seen a bigger pool anywhere. And the levator goes at an angle!

We stayed at the Luxor about 4 yrs ago when my DD was 4 yrs old. We loved it. We had a room in the pyramid on the 18th floor. My husband and I took turns with her while the other played the slots. They had quite a few shops to look through and they had a nice food court that we got food from, I remember there being an A&W root beer stand, a Little Caesars pizza, an ice cream shop and one or two others. We did room service for breakfast the next morning and it was fantastic. We'd love to go again sometime.

I have stayed here...the elevators are called inclinators as they go at a 45% angle up the Pyramid. This is my dads favourite hotel in vegas. You will love it.

We Loved the Luxor! We went for 5 days a few years ago with DH's parents. When we checked in, the guy asked if we wanted Pyramid or tower. We were thinking why would anyone NOT want the Pyramid? He said if you are a bathtub person, the towers have awesome tubs. Since DH is crazy about baths, we took the tower room and were not sorry. That tub sure took a while to fill, but I swear you could float in it. Also had a separate shower--a very nice feature.

Room was big and comfortable. I don't remember what we paid, but it seems really cheap.

We enjoyed the amusements and the buffet was outstanding. We are walkers (we actually walked from the Luxor to the Hilton for Star Trek: The Experience), but be aware that Luxor is on one end of the strip.

We are not big gamblers, but had some fun with slots. M&M World was neat, and each hotel has something that you just HAVE to see.

Good luck!

I'm staying there in February! Glad to hear all the good reviews:D

Don't want to be negative but...we stayed there last summer and it was not as great as I'd thought it would be. Let me say that we've stayed at: MGM, Treas. Island, and Circus Circus.

We had a pyramid room - the view was great but there were lots of not so great things: the "inclinators" only service a certain number of floors - so while there is one in every corner of the pyramid - there is only one "inclinator" that will get you to your room. This can mean a LONG walk around to your room.

The room we had was pretty shabby - certainly not the caliber of TI or MGM. We had a special at MGM the week earlier and paid 1/2 of what we ended up paying at Luxor.

Service was not good - we were watching a movie and it just quit half way through. We finally got a refund but had we wanted to watch the rest of the movie we would have had to start over from the beginning. We found a dead beatle in the bed my DS's were sleeping in and it took housekeeping 2 hours to come up and change the linens. My older DS found an x-rated playing card laying on the floor  He immediately hid it so that his younger brother wouldn't see it too... (thank goodness - did not want to explain That to a 7 year old!)

The novelty of staying in the pyramid was worth the money for one night. But I don't plan on staying there again.

and I agree with mrsmom - slots were tight at Luxor...

It seemed a little worn to me, but that was 3 years ago. And the buffet was pretty nasty compared to the other hotels.

But, it was a fun theme and a pretty good location. It would not be my first choice, but it was good for the price.

We stayed there and thought it was fun:earsboy:
