i eat a vegan diet (no meat, no dairy) and my family are vegetarians, does anyone have experience/suggestions for eating veg at uni/ioa?
i know a few stands have veggie burgers, but we are planning at least four days and i would like us all to be able to eat more than veg burgers and greasy pizza.
we plan on staying at the hard rock, i know dinner won't be such a problem, i'm more concerned with breakfast/lunch
thanks for any/all input

Mythos has vegetarian offerings. They are a sit down restaurant in IOA.

Hi there!!! Love seeing other vegans post :)

There is a Moe's that is in City Walk (near the movie theatre) and I will leave the parks and go eat there often. Mythos apparently has vegan and vegetarian listed on the menu now and I've heard that by asking for a chef to talk to you can really be helpful.

Fast food in the parks is very limited. I was told by Universal's Customer service to ask for a manager/chef to discuss what you can eat at each location.

Also - Butterbeer is NOT vegan (supposedly the foam and they will not sell it without), but........PUMKIN JUICE is vegan and Rocks!!

Here is some reading for you about Universal and vegan food:

My DD is lacto ovo, and her fave places were Mythos, Moes, Tchoup Chop, and Sushi at RPR.

Mythos was the absolute winner

Also in IOA is Thundering Falls Terrace. It's just past the Jurassic Park ride. They have black beans and rice there as well as a great view of people coming down the JP hill.

yummy Black beans and rice....must add that to my list:love::wizard:

thank you, didn't know about that it's always nice to have an alternative to a veggie burger! :)

Hate to tell you but you may get your fill of vegie burgers. My DD has sworn off of them after getting her fill while on vaca

But as i said before, she did find lots of other things too

after uni/ioa we are planning beach club villas where i can stock more vegan food but at universal i'm more or less at the park's mercy since our hotel room is just that, a hotel room.
truth is once i'm there i'm on vacation! so lunch isn't so bit of a deal but planning is what gets me through the waiting for vacation
:)

I've gone to universal vegan before and have gone vegetarian many times (including just a few days ago). I give Islands of Adventure top marks in the vegan/vegetarian column, in both variety and flavor! Wizarding World is a little limited (you'll be relegated to salad and french fries there). Jurassic Park has always been my favorite for a quick, delicious, and satisfying meal-- in addition to the aforementioned black beans and rice, they also have delicious grilled corn on the cob. I usually lunch there, but this past trip (was it only yesterday?) we tried the restaurant at the end of the port of entry, just as you come into the park on the right. Everything there is cooked fresh and can be done any way you like it. I had a vegetarian pad thai, my mother a greek salad that was very tasty, and my sister southwest wraps done vegetarian (again, very tasty). Plenty of variety and flavor here. I do a lot of theme parking and I've been to everything in Florida many times, nothing beats Islands for vegetarians.

glad I found this thread...it should help me out in planning my meals for July trip

Yes...Thunder Falls Terrace is my favorite restaurant at IOA.

I usually get the kids mac and cheese at the 3 broomsticks. Unfortunately it's the kraft type but it's only $5. You get fruit (grapes and apples sauce) or french fries with it.

There is also a great cart across from Olivander's that has whole fruit and fruit cups. But for some reason it also has what must be the most expensive water in the parks, $2.75 for a small bottle.
