I am considering a direct purchase at the VDH when they open and I have a few questions I am wondering if anyone knows the answers too:

1. If, theoretically, the resort goes on sale March/April 2023 and won't open until 6 months later and I want an August use year, would I get 2022 points if I purchase in March/April or would I only get the 2023 points since the resort won't be actually open until the fall?

2. I know with RIV, early direct purchasers were able to have a month window to book rooms before it was opened to the general public for booking when the 7 month window opened, but I read that CA requires timeshares to open within 6 months of going on sale. Would it be fair to expect that it will be a free-for-all when it goes on sale and direct purchasers would not get any advantage for the first 7 months the resort is open?

Based on the vgf recent sale, the answer to both is yes. You will get points for your first use year where the resort is actually open (although presumably you can borrow them like any other points) and there will be a short unique window for resort owners to book the new rooms.

Not sure what prior resort openings have had comparatively.

If the resort opens in 2023, your first set of points will be 2023.

When VGF went on sale this year, every UY started with 2022 points, even if you were in the 2021 UY when you bought.

They have always given those buying a head start in booking..for VGF is was a month heads start.

But you had to call and couldn’t book online.

First set of VGF points was 2022 everyone regardless of UY.

Even though I bought in March during my 2021 Dec UY, I don’t get the points until Dec 1st which is why I will pay one month of dues even though the resort opened in June.

They would have let me borrow them though if I wanted.

I think we said the same thing a different way...

The OP asked if they would get 2022 UY points if opening in 2023 and you answered yes, so I thought you were saying they’d get those 2022 points.

Thanks! I hope they do give new owners a little window, but it makes sense that there wouldn't be 2022 UY points to give since the resort isn't open.
