Has anyone packed a VCR in their checked luggage for a flight? Or has anyone heard of people having problems with a VCR in their suitcase.... We're headed down and I'd like to be able to copy all the video camera footage each night, so that I would be sure that I would be able to record each day and not run out of tape.

I know that when people carry electronics they often make you turn it on to prove it's not a bomb. I'm not sure how they react to a box full of wire and mechanical parts if they were to x-ray my bag.

Have you considered buying one at a Wally Mart in Orlando real cheap, then use the factory packaging to ship it back home?

Read the terms of your particular airlines "terms of carriage", many do not cover electronic equipment for damage.
Many resorts have vcr's so you might want to check and just bring what you need to hook it up to the vcr.
They no longer make you turn anything on, including laptops.

Some of the hotels actually have video players - not recorders. I found this out from a thread where someone was trying to tape something.
