Vaping in WDW parks

Just came back from a wonderful trip but only negative was the amount of people I saw vaping in the parks
Epcot/HS were the worst culprits, the vapers really aren’t bothered about who sees them

Is this becoming more of a problem or just my bad luck?

it's a problem and I wonder if the CMs are just told to ignore it or what. The policy is no vaping outside of designated areas just like smoking, but it's not enforced and you're right that those vaping don't care who sees them. I see it on airplanes all the time too as I have to travel quite a bit.

Becoming more of a problem everywhere, unfortunately not specific to WDW. It's just harder for CMs to police vaping versus cigarettes because most people take a hit and put the vape away immediately versus a cigarette, which will burn for a while, leave a longer trail of smoke, and a smoker will have it in their hand/smoke it for longer.

I have seen guests vaping and smoking. I would walk up to them and let them know that smoking is not allowed in the park but we do have designated smoking areas just outside the park entrances.

I'm guessing that Disney doesn't want the CMs confronting people. You either allow smoking in your parks or not, and if you are indeed NOT allowing it, then enforce your rules. I've also seen people smoking cigarettes.

I've certainly seen--and inhaled--vape fumes as well as cigarette smoke in the WDW parks. And I despise it. The smokers and vapers all think they can get away with it and try to act like they're not doing it, but if you're very sensitive to it, as I am, you don't need to see it, you're just inhaling it. And I find the secondhand vape smoke to be particularly awful.

But I've never seen any CM say or do anything about it. They're probably as afraid to confront the smokers as I would be. If someone doesn't care about the rules and doesn't care if children are inhaling secondhand smoke, then I'm not feeling too confident about confronting them myself. Who knows what their reaction might be?

We saw a few people vaping at WDW last month, but we had a day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg last week where I'm not sure we ever went 10 minutes without seeing someone smoking or vaping. Also much more brazen at BGW.

Telling people who vape that they are not allowed to causes a good portion of those people to get angry and abusive. I used to have to do it at a museum I worked at. No smoking, no vaping. Smokers would usually apologize and ask where they could smoke. Vapers on the other hand would have a hissy fit about how it is "not smoking" and act like they are special. It was like a dang tempter tantrum.

Can say I have never seen anyone vape in Disney
Please do! I was wondering if I'm the only one. Actually I've never seen anyone vaping anywhere. We have a trip coming up next month and this time we'll be taking our pre-teen granddaughters. If I ask them to be on the look-out for anyone vaping, I wonder if they'd show me some one.

We've seen it far too many times. People know it is not allowed. We had somebody doing it (and not exhaling) on a bus from AKL to MK. If they are that addicted to the stuff it's not even worth saying anything. They don't care, they'll do it anyway.

We've seen both vaping and smoking. I think it's funny when the smokers think they can hide it in their hand. Of course they get away with it so maybe they think no one sees it, LOL. People are all about themselves these days and don't care about you or all the little children in the parks.

My daughter just came back from there, and they were in the (very few) areas where vaping and smoking are now allowed. There is one near the front of each park.

But we live in Canada and here it's illegal to smoke anything or vape around children. It's what they're used to so she and her friends never would. But she also said those areas are very very crowded.

Maybe they took too many away? :rolleyes1

I have seen people vaping and I have also seen CM's admonish them. You know you're messing up when the CM, says, "Hey, Friend...." 🤣 I am sure that a lot of CM's don't want to bother though due to the potential for backlash. I have never seen anyone get too upset about it, just a little huffing - I am sure it happens though.

Just post big signs by the entrance that vaping (and smoking) are not allowed and you face expulsion from the park if found doing so. WDW always has some Sheriff's office personnel around here and there to eject the perps from the parks. After it happens a few times, people will stop doing it.

Yes, that is the solution. I imagine Disney has thought about that but since nothing is being done about it they likely don't really care.

I will say the difference between this issue in WDW and DL is night and day. We didn't see any body doing it at DL in the parks in our 11 day stay this summer. We did see one person vaping at the Disneyland Hotel. But still, at WDW it's typically multiple people a day.

I think this is the primary reason why people are seeing guests vaping in the parks more frequently.

In all our past visits, I never saw people smoking outside of the designated areas. But, now that you have to actually leave the park to smoke, I think more people are bringing a vape so they can get some nicotine throughout the day because there are no readily accessible areas for them to smoke.
