Vanessa- figmentfan814 ~ Happily Ever Wedding & 10th Anniversary VR Brunch #1 Added 8-10

Vanessa,
I'm betting your bus driver was a man...they tend to not hear the whole conversation at times! :lmao: On a lighter note...the pics you took on your camera phone looked great! I'm so excited for you that you got a suprise present...I can't wait to see it!

Oh Vanessa I am so glad you did an update! :cool1: I can't wait to find out what your surprise gift is!!

I can't wait to see another pic of the keepsake floral!!! That was nice of your MOH hubby to give you a ride. Very thoughtful!
I'll get the pictures from my mom today, I'm sure you'll love it. Do they have a company that floral works with out in California for Disneyland brides?

More, more, Vanessa :goodvibes at least hubby had a good excuse too for being scarce :lovestruc
That is so true, after his lame excuse that afternoon I was happy to learn later that it was actually a big surprise :goodvibes

You are right about the bus driver ;) I was surprised how good the camera phone shots came out. Stay tuned for the present; it will show up at the dessert party.

This is so true; I can't believe how long we had to wait

Thanks for continuing to follow along. Definitely stay tuned because there is still a lot left from the trip.

We ran over to my parents’ room to pick up Kris’ belongings since he ended up sleeping in their room the night before the wedding. Finally, we were packed up and headed off to the Grand Floridian. I was so excited to be staying there. It is a place that would normally be totally out of our price range, so having our free night there was a great treat. We had also added on a second night since we didn’t want to be too far away for our Magic Kingdom shoot which was two days later on Wednesday.

We pulled up in the front of the hotel and the bellhop immediately came over to help us with everything. They took our name and then called the concierge who sent someone to meet us right away. The funny thing was at this point no one could spell Kris’ last name, so it became apparent right away that he would soon be called by my last name (which I had chosen to keep) more often than I would ever be called by his.

We had a bunch of odd things to carry including Tupperware containers full of slices of leftover cake and the bouquet of snapdragons from the reception. We had left some of the flowers including the piece from the sand ceremony in my parents’ room. We were escorted through the lobby directly over to the special elevators that take you to the concierge level. Our families are pretty traditional and most people don’t live together or travel alone as a couple before getting married, so this would be our first time we had been staying anywhere on a trip completely by ourselves!

Thankfully we were in the main building which was so cool! The elevators are quite confusing if you have ever stayed in concierge level at the GF you definitely know what I’m talking about. On several occasions over the next couple of days we ended up getting a little lost.

We were finally on our floor and guided down the hallway to our room. It was absolutely amazing. The view from our balcony looked directly across to the castle and overlooked the marina area.

I asked the concierge representative whether or not we would have to check in and out again for the next day or if we would be able to keep the same room. We had originally booked our second night through the wedding block and then through a serious of events ended up getting this second night given to us. Well, somehow we were still booked in a regular room for the second night, so she told me to contact my planner and then they would be able to get everything taken care of for us.

The concierge representative handed us over our keys (mine had Kris’ last name, so we had this corrected later) and said that she would keep us posted on the room situation. We had a special surprise in our room too.

After she headed out I called Marion on her cell and she said that she would handle everything. I thanked her again and then she went over a few more details for the dessert party and told me that if we needed anything else to let her know.

Finally, we were finally able to have a few minutes to sit down and catch our breath. It was around 5:00 p.m. and we had left POR that morning at 7 a.m. We had to leave around 6:30 to head to the dessert party too.

We also decided to open our cards and the one present that had been loaded with our stuff (we had a few that we in my parent’s room still):

We laid out of our cards on the table; my little cousin drew us the cutest picture to commemorate the day:

Oh, Vanessa, the pictures are wonderful! How exciting it all seems! And your view from your balcony? :faint: I am all teary seeing the card your cousin made for you. What a darling! :cutie: Can't wait to hear more, and especially about Kris' gift to you.

Vanessa that view is stunning!!! OMG, I am so hoping for a view like that when we stay at the GF on our wedding night. Oh question, did you have to pay a fee for the upgraded conceirage level room or was it just completely free? DF and I are trying to decide what to do because we are adding 2 nights onto our free night stay and don't want to have to change rooms.

TIA!

What a great view!! I want that room! Not that i'll ever be able to afford a room at the GF, but if I did, that is the room i'd want. ;)

Can't wait to hear about the DP! I'm sure you had all kinds of wonderful stuff for that!

Vanessa - thanks for sharing the great views from your room. That must have been a great view to wake up to in the morning - besides Kris of course.

What a sweet card from your cousin!!!
It was such a nice surprise to see the card that she made for us. They live in Florida and I had not seen her and her brother for several years, so it was extra special that she wanted to take the time to do that for me

That's kind of a complicated question, originally when we booked the additional night on our own through the wedding block we were going to have to switch to a regular room for the second night. Through a serious of events pixiedust: Disney ended up giving us the second night free so they kept us in the concierge level.

I know in the past some couples have been automatically upgraded, but I think that is really a big maybe and I wouldn't depend on it. When we were originally paying for the second night the concierge level as an add-on for the additional night was way out of our price range. I know they are really good about moving your luggage, etc. so you wouldn't have that to worry about when switching rooms.

Kris and I joked one morning at breakfast that maybe by our 20th anniversary we could afford to splurge on a one night stay at the GF again, so I completely know where you're coming from on that one :rotfl:

Yeah for an update Vanessa!:goodvibes
Thanks everyone, the room really was fantastic, it made it kind of hard to go back to POR two days later ;)

Vanessa -- This bit had me :rotfl2: Howard and I have always fantasized about staying at the Grand, and there we will be, just past our 24th wedding anniversary and finally having a "honeymoon", kind of another wish come true. I hope you and Kris dont' have to wait that long to stay there again!

How funny :rotfl: I agree, hopefully we'll be able to do it on a trip that isn't that far off.

Although, I guess we need to pay off the wedding first :upsidedow

You and Howard will absolutely love it; it was such a nice relaxing experience. I loved being on the concierge level too, such a trip!

That's ok. I will wait and see what happens with us. We are also using our DVC points as well so it gets a little complicated with that as well. Thanks!

Vanessa,
The view from your room was so awesome...too cool for words! We got upgraded for our one free night too, top floor to be exact. However, we had a view of the Wedding Pavillion...it was very nice as well. I still can't wait to hear what ya got from Kris, but I have to say that I am most happy to see you posting again

Anna Marie

Great update Vanessa! Love that view.

I'm dying to stay at GF, but I always saw it as a honeymoon resort, it's the only time I can justify spending that much money I guess lol.

Can't wait to hear more, and I hope you and Kris are well.

Yea, all caught up again! WOW!!!! What a view! Can't wait to hear about your gift!!!

Wow! what a great view. Can't wit to hear how you liked RPC. The GF is our favorite, especially RPC. I just wish we could afford to stay in style all of the time!
