How do I get from the airport to the Pan Pacific? Do I need to book a transfer or do they have a shuttle? I can't seem to find it on their website. I figured someone here will know!

You will need to take a taxi (about $28 USD) or get a limo/van right outside at the curb at Vancouver airport. You can also take the Sky Train but you have to walk a few blocks to the hotel.

Taxis at airport, many, also the Canada line train but some lifting. We booked with the limo service of the Pan Pacific it's on the hotel site, legacy cars our drivers were excellent it was like a tour of the city.

Canada Line is the cheapest, but you will have to walk a couple of blocks with your luggage from the last stop. Taxi is a flat rate $35CDN from the airport to anywhere downtown.

Also, directly from the Pan Pacific website:
"Legacy Limousine Services, our exclusive transportation provider’s for the Pan Pacific Vancouver. For reservations contact Legacy Limousine Services at 604.312.0500 or 1 (866) 618-5466 (limo) or make an online reservation at www.legacylimousine.ca."

I just looked at rates for that hotel, I know they are canadian so with the exchange rate it's probably rough but are they normall $800/night for Pan Pacific? That seems high but I understand it's probably comparable to a luxury hotel in NYC, just curious if $800/night CAD is normal

Even for the Pan Pacific that is ridiculously high!!! What dates were giving you those prices?

If you book enough in advance you can get pretty decent rates with AAA. Others have been able to find deals with Price Line.

I didn't see any shuttles, but DCL was offering transfers to 2 hotels booked thru them. Unfortunately the Pan Pacific was not one of them but The Fairmont Waterfront directly across the street was. http://www.fairmont.com/waterfront-vancouver/
The Fairmont also offered luggage delivery to the ship.

We decided against pre-booking any transfers because the prices were pretty high.
But if you can manage to get a deal with a reliable company, then it's worth considering.

here are 2 options to compare private co. prices with:

1. Our initial plan - walk out to the taxi area and try for 1 minivan for the 5 of us. What we learned was no taxi anywhere will transport 5 guests - no matter their vehicle size. So we would need two taxis for our group of 5 = double the price.

According to the official link per the YVR website, taxis are currently charging a zone fare from YVR of $35 CAD + gratuity to zone 9 - Canada Pl.
http://www.yvr.ca/en/passengers/transportation/taxis
(Click on the zone map to see the base fares)

Taxi stands are directly outside the baggage claim areas on Level 2 for both Domestic and International arrivals.

You'll see them immediately when you exit.

just get in the line shown on the right.

2. Our actual plan - we decided to go with Aerocar. An onsite limo service ready and waiting curbside next to the taxi stand. No reservations required.

They were right there with a vehicle ready to go when we walked outside.

price: $60 CAD - door to door for the whole group.

A great comfortable ride to the port. Very convenient and reasonably priced.

We took the train (Canada Line). Saved money, was easy to do, and I think it took less time than a taxi (depends on traffic, though). However, it was kind of a pain to roll our luggage from the station to the hotel (and then back to the station after the cruise).

WAY too high, even for that hotel, even for peak summer cruise season. (though remember that 800 CAD is just over 600 US right now) (still, FAR too high)

We stayed at the Pan last year for 175.00 a night. You can find deals. I booked about 2 months in advance.

We did a AAA pkg for 3 adults which incl. breakfast for two and paid around 225.00 for the night. We had to call the hotel direct to book it. Couldn't get this online.

Good to know, I wonder if they have corporate rates, we have AAA so good to know we can use that, thanks guys

We are a family of 5 and booked a stretch limo with Aerocar for transfers for approximately half the price of Disney transfers, when you factored in currency exchange rates. A taxi would have been a little cheaper, but it was easiest to keep us all together and the kids were very impressed. We had outstanding drivers.

Also, if you need 2 rooms (we did) the PP had a "Family Package" where you got the second room half price, breakfast for 4, a free movie rental with popcorn, cookies and drinks, etc. and ended up a relatively good deal. I had to call directly to book it and was unable to do so online.

We never knew the taxi capacity either. Found out the hard way when my DH was trying to hail a cab outside the Pan Pacific. The car pulled up and he noticed just 2 bucket seats upfront and a bench seat in the back. There was no 3rd row - only space for luggage. DH asked "where can I get 1 for 5 people?" The driver answered: "Nowhere. There are none. The minivans are all the same. We can only take 4"

Many cabs were smaller vehicles, which can only transport 3 passengers.

And we did get that stretch limo. The men went out to get a cab, saw the limo and asked "how much?"
the guy pitched "$60 CAD" and they agreed. It could fit 7 easily.

(btw- that's the Fairmont Waterfront in the background. We're standing curbside at the Pan Pacific. That's how close these two hotels are)
