I am taking my wife, son, and parents next summer to DW. We are planning on staying on property. I was qondering which would be more cost effective. Getting a suite to house all of us or going and getting 2 value rooms. We dont have an issue with space (we all get along) and dont need anything more than a bed for each of us (we dont spend much time at the hotel). Any suggestions for suites and money savers would help.

We had 4 adults in September and stayed in 2 rooms at AS Movies. We don't spend time in the rooms either. It worked well for us. We ave stayed at several deluxe resorts and SoG several times and have come to the conclusion that for us the deluxe resorts aren't worth the money. Good luck!

I guess I'll be the first non-beer to post on this thread (but put me down for Heilmann's Old Style for my sister), but the All Stars have a family suite that sleeps 6. Also the Ft Wilderness Cabins sleep 6. Port Orleans-Riverside has rooms that sleep 5 in the Alligator Bayou section - two double beds and one trundle bed.

It took me a second to get this and then ... :rotfl:. I'm a local New Glarus Brewery Spotted Cow girl myself ;).

I would still recommend that you get two rooms v/s only one. You may in fact all get along together to share a room, but is it enough to share a bathroom? Honestly, I think that any single room in a Disney resort is too small for 4 adults and a child ... even if there are enough beds. The All Stars suite would work for you, but it won't save you any money. In addition, grown-ups would end up on fold out chairs or couches instead of real beds. The AS suites are fine for big families with lots of kids, but not for multi-generational families. If you're on a real budget I would choose 2 rooms at one of the Value resorts and ask for them to be connecting. That way you can open up the door and be together if you want, or close it for your privacy.

Just an FYI

Note: there is no extra fee for extra adults in a Family Suite;.
1-6 adults can stay in a Family Suite at the regular rate
WDW charges extra for more than 2 adults in a room.
If your group all stayed in 1 mod room (POR AB section) the added fee would $30 extra a night. There is a charge of $15 a night for each extra adult.

AAA now has dicounts on the Family Suites.
Codes and other discounts have also been offered.
Keep your eyes open for specials!

Remember a fridge is included in AS Suite.

Fridges cost $10 a night to rent when staying at a value . Don't forget the Queen size bed,a coffee pot and microwave are also in Family Suites.
The Family Suites are located in the Calypso and Jazz buildings. Those buildings are the buildings which are nearest to the main pool ,food court and bus stop.
That means less walking to and from your room!

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.
The sofa folds out and sleeps two. Both the chair and ottoman also fold out into a twin bed and each sleep 1 person.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

Have you ever thought of renting points from a DVC Member? In the end you would spend the same and have a nicer resort room. If you are interested please contact me and I will give you more details. God Bless - CMMarkins@aol.com

Hi,

You didn't mention the age or your son, so unless he is under 3, your cheapest option is a room with a trundle bed at POR. (There will be an extra charge for more than 2 adults in the room.) Although, I wouldn't recommend this... I don't think this would be comfortable for 4 adults and you will lose time waiting for each other to get ready, as there is only one bathroom.

Other than the above option, the CM's have told me the cheapest option for larger groups is 2 rooms at a value resort. The suites at ASMu price a little higher than 2 rooms, but do give you a few extra perks... mini kitchen w/refrigerator... if that matters to you. Your parents could take the bedroom and your family would have to sleep on the pull-outs in the other room. You would still have 2 bathrooms. Personally, I would rather have 2 rooms, and sleep on beds, than deal with the pull-outs.

go with the AS family suites - encourage disney to make some more.... if you go with this option do it now - they go fast.

or 2 rooms at any of the values - my favorite is Pop Century.

Thanks for all of the imput. I was unaware of the value resort family suites...I guess you learn something new every day.

The family resorts are only in ASMusic and book up quickly.
i ended up switching to 2 rooms instead for less money.
