Value rooms at Animal Kingdom

Are there any savannah views in the value rooms? Is it hit or miss? Amazingly, its less than 7 months out, and I'm thinking about adding a few nights at AK and the value studio is available. There's only 3 of us (2A1C) so I'm not worried about size, but we're planning on spending the day in Universal and I want to come back and look at animals on my balcony ... is it worth the extra 6 points a night for Savannah View? If it were a 1 or 2 bedroom, no brainer I'd go for Kidani for the extra bath, but in a studio ...

I just reserved a value studio for the second time for next March for me, DH and DS. We do notice the size difference a bit, but the low points and location make it worthwhile. At the time of year we're going, we can get a whole week for less than 100 points. One of my favorite things about the value rooms that I rarely see people cite as a benefit is their location right at the front of the hotel - close to lobby, dining, and (for us) the free laundry room. I wake up very early and do laundry before everyone wakes up, which I missed when we were at OKW this year and I didn't want to trek outside to the laundry in dark. Being in the front of the hotel is also very nice after a long day at the parks.

(PS-we had a bit of a savanna view last time but limited - and I wouldn't expect it. If that's important to you, I'd book savanna view.)

I know it's the square footage that is slightly less in these rooms compared to the regular rooms, but do you really notice? Is it that much?

Are there any other differences?

We've stayed in a value studio at Jambo and a std. studio at Kidani with 3 people and YES there's a noticeable difference in the room size. That said we still prefer the studio layouts at Jambo over Kidani. There's just no place to PUT anything in the value studios. IMO part of the problem with the studios at AKV in general is that there are just too many big pillows and no place to PUT them! And in the value studio once you open up the sofabed you're really out of space. You have to move the little tables that serve as a coffee table and about 300 pillows. We end up shoving them under the bed and just leaving them there. They're a pain to deal with.

Thanks!

So what I'm gathering is, if I do a studio, make it a standard, but I'd be ok in a 2 bdrm value? Like I said, we always do a studio, so I don't have a standard 2 bdrm to compare it to anyway. I guess I'll just be blissfully ignorant? LOL

As to getting a value room (regardless of size) for Princess half-marathon weekend, the chances are iffy. Value rooms are gone by 7 months out the overwhelming majority of the year and and that time is right at the end of Presidents week. You may have a chance but make sure you have a back-up plan
Well if I can't get a value 2bdrm, I'll just do the 2 standard studios then.

I booked at BCV for now so at least I have something, but for 2 studios over there that weekend is 124 points!! Yikes. That's a lot for us. I definitely have to transfer that somewhere at 7 months out.

We booked a standard studio at Jambo last December and we had a "partial" view of the savannah. But that was a standard not a value. Values are in the front of the hotel as pp pointed out, which are closer to the pkg lot. We saw plenty of animals. We were actually right by where they feed them and house them for their breaks during the day, so there was a lot of action over there at certain hours of the day. :)

There are savanna views in the value villas, but you cannot request a view when you book value villas. You might get a savanna view or you might get the parking lot.

if you want the savanna view, book that.

if you want to save on point costs per night (and don't need the space of the regular studios), then book the value studio.

There is a great map of the DVC rooms in Jambo House here. The Value rooms are located at the front of the resort along the Giraffe and Ostrich trails. There are two Value studios that face the parking lot, eight that face the Sunset Savanna and eight that face the pool area. MS will not accept view requests when you book a Value room. While the odds are good that you will avoid the parking lot view, someone will end up there since the Value rooms are usually fully booked.

We absolutely noticed a difference. The value 1 bedroom was tiny, to the point where we were disappointed for our first couple days of the trip. That said once we got over ourselves and realised that we really didn't need much space we enjoyed it. We currently have 2 more stays booked for a value 1 bedroom. The rooms are tiny, but were fine for us in the end. Just set your expectations really low. In order to fit a twin air mattress in the master bedroom it had to be 1/4 under the bed!

Hi you! I never got to thank you after my trip to the 1bdrm Value. You had taken and posted pictures for me regarding the space issue. We never ended up using the pack and play at all. I slept on the sofa bed w/my 2 girls (bed rail on one side) and moved the coffee table directly between the sofa bed and the TV. There was no way to get to the balcony unless you crawled over the sofa bed, but it wasn't too bad. Hard to close that master bedroom door, and we used up ALL of the counterspace since there was no island. The noise insulation was horrible, and we could hear the neighbors in the lock off part very very very clearly. All that being said, I'd stay there again for the point savings, but only for a short 3-4 night stay.
