Can anyone tell me anything about the value studios at Animal Kingdom? What is the difference between a value studio and a regular studio?

Thanks

The Values only exist in Jambo House at AKV. They are about 3 feet shorter and have a smaller balcony than the other room of the same type in Jambo House. The 1 & 2 bedroom values don't have a sleeper chair so the occupancy is one less than the other 1 & 2 bedroom units. The Values can have either a savanna view, pool view or parking lot view.

All of the DVC rooms in Jambo House are on the 5th & 6th floor and were converted from hotel rooms. The values were regular rooms and the other Jambo House units were converted from deluxe hotel rooms. The 6th floor units are Concierge Level and they also only exist in Jambo House.

We just got back from our trip on the 20th and we had a 1 bdrm value and my sister had a 2 bdrm value lockoff and we had a great trip maybe becase i had not seen the reg RM's but we had a great pool view and my sister had a sav view that was so cool. I would stay value again. You cant beat the points. And besides when we were in the RM we slept otherwise we ran to the parks so by the end of the night we didnt care we just went to bed. we are so happy with our stay we are planing to go back for an adult trip in 2012.:banana: Hope this helps have a great trip.

As others have stated that Value studios are smaller than regular studios. The bathroom was a little small. You could not close the door unless you stood to the side of the toilet bowl. The sink area was great with a double vanity. You do not get a closet in the Value Studio you get an armoire so there does not leave much room for storage of your suitcases. It was enough room for just the 2 of us but when we take the kids we will get a regular studio.

But for one or two people, I think the value studios at AKV are DVC's best kept secret. Perhaps the balconies are smaller, but if so, they're not noticeably so. I'm at work now, but when I get home, I may be able to post some pictures of where the difference in size appears to be, and what at least my views have been like. And I just got a value studio today for October 8, just a little more than 6 months out, so maybe they're not overly popular.

Home now!

Heres's where the loss of space in the room seems to come from. In a standard view, there's more space to the right as you face the armoire-

The value studio still has 2 vanity sinks, which I noticed becaue BCV only has one sink.

I thought the view of the pool was fantastic-

My view this year was a little (lot) more obstructed-

I just got back from staying at a value studio. I went on a cruise with my 3 teenage grandchildren and we stayed 2 nights at AKV before the cruise. My sons studio with his 2 children had a view of the animals and was great. We had a parking lot view. But we really enjoyed getting to see AKV for the first time. The value room is a great way to stretch your points. When we came back from the cruise we were at BC studio for 3 nights and I no it is bigger but I think the large furniture at AK makes it a tighter fit. I had no complaints at either place and enjoyed my trip with the grand kids.:goodvibes

Nice view! What room were you in? I requested 5004, 5010, 5024, 5030 in hopes of a pool view!

We stayed in a value stdio last year and that was 2 adults and 2 kids for 10 nights, we loved it we had a savannah view room too

We just got back and 5004 is a pool view but partially through the trees. Still a very nice room. The balcony is very long on this one, just not as deep as the regular 1 BR seemed to be. But LOVED every minute down there.

I've seen some pics from most of those rooms and all of the views seem really nice! I'm hoping for any one of the 4 I requested! Watch me wind up with a parking lot view!

Are you saying that normally there is three feet between the armoire and the wall safe? Or just part of the lost 3 feet is there? I've seen several posts that state the furniture is all closer together so there due to the fact that the room is 3 feet shorter.

Yes, that's how I remembered it. I split my stay between a standard view and a value studio specifically so that I could check out the differences the first time. There also seemed to be a foot or two difference in the width of the studio, but that was a little floor space.
The first studio (with the straight on pool view) was #5020, the second was #5026.

Thanks for all the info,I wasn't sure when I booked what we were in for,I can live with any of the choices in this room ,I like the use as little points and go more often :yay:

Hi Guys.Thankyou for all the info. This has answered my querey. We are staying here for 4 nights after our 10 nights at SSR/free dining. I am renting points off a fellow uk DISer.Didnt know whether to request Kindani or Jambo but we only want a value studio as we only want it as a base as will be enjoying the hotel, animal kingdom park and the water parks on our last four days. Does anyone know if the room decor is different in the kindani area? I know it is a newer area .I have also read it is a quieter area to stay not that that bothers me. I presume it is easy to access the kindani pool from Jambo anyway.
Do you request a value with savannah or is it just pot luck as to what you get. Not really fussed but noticed someone has requested specific rooms. Is there a map of the rooms somewhere on here so I can have a look.Would much prefer a pool/savannah view to a carpark. Its my 40th birthday when we go so perhaps they will feel sorry for me:laughing::rotfl2:

Value studios are only in Jambo house. You can request Savannah view, but it is only a request.

I too am looking to book a VALUE STUDIO @AK Jambo Hse for next year.
Previously I stayed there in a SAVANNAH STUDIO on the Zebra Trail. It was a great location, near the lifts, hotel lobby and with a terrific view of the animals -we loved it!!

This year, we stayed in a VALUE STUDIO on the Giraffe Trail.
We didn't have an 'armoire' but we did have a walk-in cupboard and there was a connecting door to the next room (locked). The balcony was noticeably smaller but had a view of the pool and again was close to lifts and hotel lobby.

However, my Son really really missed sitting out on the balcony watching the animals this trip (he is autistic) , so I was hoping there may be some SAVANNAH VIEW VALUE STUDIOS available at AK Jambo House.

Has anyone stayed in one?If so, where are they exactly?Room Numbers? What are the views like? Are they restricted in any way?Any pics of the room and views? What animals did you see? When does the sun 'hit' the balcony? Did the room have a closet?

Sorry about all the questions-Just want to try and get it right for my boy!!

Regards

lam:thumbsup2
