Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! 30 days of Disney fun! 02/10 Day 30

Hi Karin,

Love the new trip title and your birthday dinner looked divine...I really like the look of Tom's trout, and the desserts look delicious.

So we are hoping to get to Cyprus to our time share in a few weeks time if BA decide to fly us there and back:confused3

but I can reveal some exciting Disney news: we are going to Disneyland California for a few days in October!!!! courtesy of some points we have with a scheme run by Tesco supermarket:cool1:.

And BTW, British school half term is also the week of 19th Feb 2011!

Did you hear that It's a Small World, Star Tours and a good possibility of Toy Story Mania will all be closed while we are there (the first two are for sure).:sad2:

Thanks for your kind remarks on my new title and birthday dinner! This is one of the best restaurants we have around here and it is such a treat when we go there!

Wow! Cyprus sounds great! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you so BA doesn't mess up!

:dance3: Your Disney news is wonderful!!!!!! :dance3: Have you been to Disneyland before? It was our "fall in love" with Disney park! We have SO many happy memories there.
Say "hello" to our stone there :goodvibes and don't forget to look up to Walt's lamp in the firehouse!
Hey, you now got ME all excited about YOUR trip!! :rotfl2:

Did you hear that It's a Small World, Star Tours and a good possibility of Toy Story Mania will all be closed while we are there (the first two are for sure).:sad2:

I knew about Star Tours, but I didn't know about Small World (which I can bypass :rolleyes1) but TSM??????????????? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!  Where did you read about it? What did I miss again????

Nooo! TSM CAN'T be closed!

That would be such a shame! If they really close it we won't be at the Studios much - it's never been my favourite park in the first place!

Your kitty looks just like our Fredi! :)

She's our spoiled little princess! ;) :rotfl2: But what can you expect, we named her TinkerBell, and call her Pixie for short! :rotfl:

I don't think there are many cats around here in Austria whose owners have a Petsmart card and go out of their way (even to Key West) to buy cat-toys while on vacation! ;)

Update with EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!

Today I found out that Disney offers a new behind the scenes tour!

It's called ............

Tour1.jpg

tour2.jpg

and I just got off the phone because we are booked on the tour on Aug 22!!!

So, I haven't even finished posting my planned itinerary and I am already going to change things around! :rotfl2:

Got a 15% discount on the tour with our APs too!! :woohoo

So the prospect of NO TSM made it easier to decide the day and instead of going to DHS to ride TSM we are now going to DHS while on the tour! :rotfl:,
we will stay with our plans of having lunch at Captain Cooks and the rest of the day stays the same as well!

Wow have missed alot.

Love the new title :thumbsup2 and the DLRP pictures, oh the Pink Castle brings back memories :cloud9:

That was so sweet of your class to bake you a cake, looks yummy :goodvibes

Pixie is gorgeous, she looks so cute and fluffy :cutie:

Yummy looking dinner, what a nice way to repay your catsitter :)

I am glad everyone likes the new title! :goodvibes

I am pretty proud of my class for baking me that cake! We shared it during the lesson and had great fun! :thumbsup2

Pixie was a stray cat and would not have survived her first winter, she was one skinny little kitty!
Look at her now, well fed and spoiled! :lmao:

Christa and Raimund are just really sweet people. They go up to our house to be with Pixie ever so often and we owe them big time!

That tour sounds wonderful and something we would be interested in doing but they have the restriction that you must be at least 16 to participate, our DS will only be 14. Darn it!

I can live without Star Tours, I have major motion sickness issues with it. I hope IASM is open, we like to do that at least once every trip but if TSM is closed I am going to crushed!!! That is one of my favorite rides and I was really excited to hear that they have FP because in DL they don't. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We have done most of the tours at the MK and even did some of them twice! :lmao: But when I found out about this new one - I knew I had another highlight!

Star Tours should be closed - they have a "Last Tour to Endor" event on August 14 and should close as of September 8.
The closure of IASW is on Disney's own homepage - MK!! (Check the calendar it's on there) Closed from Aug 1 to Oct 23
TSM is supposed to close on August 15 - our luck we arrive on Aug 14! :sad2:
and supposed to open again on Sept 5!
Kathy you should be good then - you'll arrive AFTER Sept 5

Info comes from Stitchkingdom!

Wow, that sounds like a great new tour! And you're already booked! Wowzers, you sure act fast. Can't wait to hear about it on your TR!

We are both really excited about it! I just found out about it yesterday and knew that IF I could fit it in it would be perfect.
The Disney agent was fun to talk to as I was the first one to have her book that tour! We'll be at DHS, the entertainment department and MK! Should be fun! :goodvibes

:cloud9: Plans: Day 13 - 15 :cloud9:

Day 13
Thursday, August 26

Moving and cruising day today!

After getting ready in the morning we will load the car and get ready to check out of Old Key West. I hate those envelopes at the doors! :sad2: We hope to be at Downtown Disney at 9am for breakfast at Wolfgang Puck’s Express

klein_425.jpg

and after that we will hit the road for our drive to Port Canaveral.
Once there we will drop off our luggage and park the car in the cruise parking lot before we head over to go through security and check in for the cruise.

klein_426.jpg

Hopefully it won’t rain and we can enjoy the outdoor decks for a while after we had lunch at either Parrot Key or Beach Blanket Buffet. Definitely need to have our first cocktails then! :lmao: Bahama Mama, here we come! :thumbsup2

klein_441.jpg

Once they open the staterooms we will check out our “old” home, as we have the same stateroom as last year. :goodvibes

DSC_0006.jpg

We’ll try to put things away as much as possible, enjoy the balcony and prepare for the lifeboat drill.

klein_446.jpg

After that we will just hurry back to the stateroom to store the life jackets and head upstairs to join the sailaway celebrations.

DSC_0079.jpg

klein_470.jpg

Guess we will pick up a little snack on the way back to the stateroom where will relax for a while before we head to the theatre for The Golden Mickeys.

DSC_0140.jpg

After that we will need to get changed and head down to dinner. I am really anxious to find out what rotation we will have this year.

klein_493.jpg

We missed Animator’s Palette last year and I do NOT want to miss it again this year.
After dinner we will make our first Fish Extender round

DSC_0031.jpg

before we retreat to our balcony with a relaxing drink before we call it a day.

Day 14
Friday, August 27

We will try to hit Triton’s for breakfast today. Last year we didn’t realize that we could have a table service breakfast, but this year we definitely want to try it out.

klein_504.jpg

After breakfast we will leave the ship and venture into Nassau on our own.

DSC_0008.jpg

On our first cruise we booked a tour in Nassau and it was so not worth it, so this year we’ll try a different approach. After checking out some of the touristy shops and maybe some Starbuck’s coffee we will go back onboard the ship

DSC_0029.jpg

and grab some lunch at either Pluto’s Doghouse or Pinocchio’s Pizzeria.

DSC_0185.jpg

I hope there are some ship’s tours or tasting lessons in the afternoon we can join, but so far nothing is booked yet.

Another Fish Extender round is in order

DSC_0033.jpg

before we will watch the ship pull away from Nassau before we settle down on the balcony with a nice and relaxing drink in hand.

In the early evening we will watch “Toy Story, the Musical” in the Walt Disney Theater

DSC_0224.jpg

before we head to Palo for a feast at sea!

klein_569.jpg

I guess we will be tired after all that food, so we will just slowly walk back to our stateroom, enjoy some time on the balcony and go to bed earlier.

Day 15
Saturday, August 28

Castaway Cay Day!!

DSC_0001.jpg

I guess we need to put on the alarm clock to see the ship pull into Castaway Cay! Might be wishful thinking! :rotfl2:

We will order room service breakfast for our Castaway Cay day

klein_587.jpg

and as soon as we are done we will head for the island. Last time we thought that this would be a one time experience for us, but we really fell in love with the island and how Disney has set it up, so we cannot wait to visit there again.

klein_611.jpg

I guess this time we will even do a few character photos before we hit She Sells Seashells and finally the tram to Serenity Bay.

DSC_0068.jpg

After hitting the lagoon and a few nice drinks

DSC_0074.jpg

we will have lunch at Cookie’s 2

klein_601.jpg

and enjoy some more beach time.

klein_608.jpg

Guess we will need to go back to the Wonder by 3pm

klein_629.jpg

and relax in our stateroom before we head to the theatre for the Disney Dreams, another show to watch while on board.

DSC_0227.jpg

We will be visiting the restaurant we will be assigned for dinner :goodvibes, then enjoy some time on deck or on our verandah before we will call it a day.

This was posted on my PTR by a friend so it looks as if TSM will open before we get there.

According to Stitch Kingdom, TSM will be closed between 8/15 and 9/04

DH and I spent the second half of our honeymoon at a resort in Nassau. Our resort was beautiful but the downtown area left something to be desired. I thought I was getting a bargain with the fake bags, turns out they fell apart not too long after I got home and began using them. Oh well, live and learn. What I suggest you do, is take a water ferry (it's only a couple of dollars) over to Paradise Island and follow the masses to the Atlantis. They have a shopping area that is very nice and you can get a treat there (I believe they have a starbucks, a smoothie place, and a Ben & Jerry's icecream shop). Walk into the Atlantis and check it out. They have an aquarium you can visit (it does cost money but a part of it I believe is free to view). They have a casino there as well. The atmosphere of Paradise Island doesn't feel as run down as Nassau. Although, on our way back from visiting Paradise Island we took a cab b/c it was raining and had to take a detour b/c of road construction and our cab driver drove past his church and through some of the residential areas and it was really interesting to see.
