Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! 30 days of Disney fun! 02/10 Day 30

I think Pirates would be fun, as we could all ride in one boat together, what do you think? Maybe have a dole whip before or after so it's easier to get to know each other?

Yes, I was thinking the exact same thing about the dole whips!!!

And that cake is AWESOME!!!!! I would LOVE a cake like that! Did you get to keep the mini ship??

Being an AP holder is just fun! ;) :lmao: It really pays off for us as we are not eligable for the 14/21 day British passes and if you stay more than 10 days it is more cost effective to buy an AP instead of 2 sets of tickets.
It also gives you the freedom of going to a park for an hour or two. When we still had regular tickets we would never waste a ticket for an EMH evening visit.
With the AP we have just gone to a park, ride a ride or two and took off again and that was it for a day. Guess we are spoiled! :rotfl2:

Side note: In 2006 we did a trip to DLRP in June, then flew to Orlando for 2 weeks and did the west coast for another 3 weeks and during that visit we held annual passes to three Disney parks, DLRP, WDW, and Disneyland! I loved "flashing" my purse around so people could see my array of Annual Passes! :rotfl:

Lol, must have been cool having three different looking cards too :goodvibes

Ooh yes, it looks so yummy :)

AP's are cool and we hope to be able to be members at some point in the future for WDW, DLRP would be cool too. Really want to do DVC.

You should look into it DVC is really awesome (my family has it, we were hesitant at first but sooo happy we decided to get it)!!!

Anyways, I love the birthday cake!! I wouldnt wanna cut into the ship either!!!

Can't wait to hear about your trip to Disneyland Paris to. ive never been or even seen pictures so I cant wait to find out how it was!!!

We'll be at MK that whole day, could we join in with the minidis meet? Would love to meet some fellow dis people.

OMG, what have I missed! Stayed away a few days and so much has been happening!

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, hope you had a fantastic day:grouphug:

Second, DLRP! how exciting....

we are waiting to hear if our half term break will go ahead...we hope to fly out of LHR with BA, but they have announced strike action, so don't know yet if we'll get to go.

You should look into it DVC is really awesome (my family has it, we were hesitant at first but sooo happy we decided to get it)!!!

We very nearly did have DVC, on our last trip we actually signed up and DF swatted up on how to utilise the points etc, but I started getting cold feet as DF's job was a little bit unstable when we got back, not to mention I just had a funny feeling about doing this when we didn't even have a place of our own and there was something else I couldn't quite put my finger on. But I have promised DF that as soon as we have gotten our wedding and living situated down we can look into signing up to DVC again (fingers crossed we can).

Sorry to go OT Karin :)

Great cake, Karin and hope you had a very happy birthday! :goodvibes:goodvibes

My birthday and the following day were really wonderful - I will update and explain everything in my next update - AND I have food pix as well!
We still have some cake left - that thing was HUGE! But we are finally making a dent in it! ;)

Yes, I was thinking the exact same thing about the dole whips!!!

And that cake is AWESOME!!!!! I would LOVE a cake like that! Did you get to keep the mini ship??

Yes, dole whips it is! Lets meet for dole whips and then ride Pirates! Jungle cruise would be fun too, but I think they won't be open during Extra Magic Hours.
The ship ON the cake is actually a Christmas Ornament Tom ordered from someone in Kissimmee! I need to watch out, he gets even more sneaky than me when it comes to surprises. ;) BUT I love it!

Lol, must have been cool having three different looking cards too :goodvibes

It was! Now we only hold 2 different passes, and I have been known to show my other APs at Disney, when asked for a photo ID (both DL AP and DLRP AP do have a photo on them!). It is always good for a laugh! :rotfl2:

Awesome cake! I hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Thank you! :goodvibes Yes I did have a wonderful birthday and the cake is still very yummy! ;)

There is a photo of the ship under the "ornament" one and I still have a hard time cutting into it. But the edible picture does not take very nice anyway, so we will just take off the part with the actual ship on it! ;) :lmao:

Disneyland Paris is such a fun place to be! It is very similar to the MK and yet sooooooooo different. I promise to take LOADS of photos (at least Tom will, he's got a new camera) and post them here!

Here are some pix from December 08:

absolutely Kandy! Everyone is invited!

I absolutely second that! :thumbsup2

Thank you for your birthday wishes! :goodvibes

We can't wait for our short break at DLRP! This is a real exciting year so far. First WDW in February and now we are able to squeeze in a trip to DLRP!

Where are you going for your half term break? WDW? I need to know more! ;) And I will keep my fingers crossed BA won't go ahead with their strike plans.

No need to be sorry!

We looked into DVC ourselves! :lmao: But it is not for us, we are too old and it does not fit our style of vacations.
But you are still so young and I guess it would be right for you! Just sign up for one of their tours and ASK lots of questions! ;)

Good morning, everyone!

Here's another update - actually this one is to explain why I am going to change the title of my pre-trippie, soon to be DLRP trip report! ;)

The new title will be:

Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Now, how did we come up with the change?

One of my birthday presents from Tom was a Scrooge McDuck piggy bank!

onkeldagobert.jpg

I AM the miser in our family! I am trying to save as much money as possible to happily hand it over to Mr. Mouse!
So, when we originally booked this years summer vacation we had reservations at All Star Movies and Pop Century but when we were able to save a little extra money we were able to upgrade to OKW!
When we first talked about rebooking on board the Wonder we played with the idea of getting an inside stateroom to save some money - we threw that idea overboard right away. ;)
But after some number crunching we decided to change our reservation and for a few dollars more we got 7 nights on the Wonder instead of 5! AND we were able to keep our verandah room!

Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! Now I guess that title really fits me!

Especially when we take into consideration that we were just sure we would NOT be able to fit in a trip to WDW in February - AND WE DID GO BACK!!! and that renewing our APs for DLRP, let alone a visit there were out of the question! AND WE ARE GOING BACK IN JUST 8 MORE DAYS!!
Well, that's the story behind the change in the title, hope you all don't mind!

Update on trip planning coming up next!

Okay, so here is a short update on what happened those last few days around here.

On Wednesday, the day after my birthday I had to go back to school and had a huge surprise from my class!

image007.jpg

They had baked a cake for my birthday, so we could all celebrate during my geography lesson! (Well, here goes another geography lesson, but it was a good cause, wasn't it?)

gbtorte.jpg

Sorry, the photo is SO small, but I had not brought my camera and one of my pupils took the photo with his cell phone, than resized it to send it to me and this is what I got! :rotfl2:

It was big enough to serve all 25 of us and it was very good! Needless to say it was a huge surprise and it was very sweet of them!

Now that same evening we took our catsitters, Christa and Raimund, out for dinner.
Since I love to do dining reviews I thought I might sneak in one here too! I'll keep it short and simple, I promise!

This is NOT WDW food - Austrian food at its best!

Tom and I started out sharing an appetizer.

Pan seared scallops over sauteed spinach and white asparagus foam. :cloud9: Oh my gosh, so good!

It's asparagus season here, so there is a theme to it!

Tom had the pan seared brook trout over creamy risotto of white and green asparagus. Gordon Ramsay would have loved the risotto ;), it was so nice and the fish had a really crispy skin and the flesh was still moist! YummYYYYYYY!!

My main course was the Asparagus Cordon Bleu. White asparagus wrapped in cheese and ham, than breaded and fried! I can tell you this was SO good! It came with parsley potatoes and basil remoulade! Yum, yum, yum!

My dessert, Strawberry Tiramisu, accompanied by strawberry sorbet! The sorbet was out of this world good. The Tiramisu was :cloud9: heavenly too.

Tom had the Light and Dark Chocolate Mousse with Layer Cake, Tonkabeans Ice-cream and Whisky Marinated Berries. Not the lightest of desserts, but very good - he ate it all and that means a lot! ;)

Both, Christa and Raimund had the "Everything Strawberry", a Cannelloni filled with strawberry cream, stewed strawberries and a strawberry foam! We had such fun as the cannelloni was stuck to the plate with white chocolate and we had the funniest ideas on how to eat it!

All in all it was a really fun day!

Didn't do much yesterday, but I want to update some more today!

Wow, I"m a sucker for scallops, and those looked outstanding! And such beautiful desserts. Very nice meal!

I want to be your cat sitter!! :rotfl2:

OK, Karin...I'm drooling...your dinner looked FANTASTIC. I love asparagus so much. Your entree looked particularly intriguing. Thanks for sharing!

As I already told Kathy, it looks like pretty much a definite that we'll be going back with our son in February; possibly with my parents! Any chance you'll be reprising your mid-winter break this coming year?

Looking forward to more of your plans! :cool1:

That was so sweet of your class!! They must love you! :lovestruc
Mmmm, I want some of that asparagus cordon bleu-- looks FABULOUS!

LOVE the new title. How sweet of your 25 kids to make you a birthday cake.

And now I am sitting here drooling AGAIN over the food with your catsitters. You are killing me, Karin.:rotfl2:

I've subbed and I'm finally in! I'll be back later to read!:goodvibes

It's pretty cool that you are going to take your son to WDW next year already. He's going to have a blast!
We are hoping to be able to go back in February next year - half term is Feb 19 - 26, so this would be our dates. What will your dates be?

That was so sweet of your class!! They must love you! :lovestruc

I get along quite well with my class, even though they are at a difficult age, they are all 13! (The photo I posted is 2 years old!)
I LOVE asparagus, so that main course was really up my street!

Thanks! Tom came up with the new title and I really loved it too!

My "kids" are a nice bunch! AND, we get along pretty well, so I am really looking forward to spend next week with them! :goodvibes

Good to know you "liked" the food pix! That stuff was out of this world good! It's an expensive place, but so worth every cent! :thumbsup2
