Decide on a value for the 3 of us; hubby, me, and 16 y.o. stepson. I like the idea of having 2 connecting rooms. That means 2 bathrooms, 2 TVs, and privacy. We will have our own car, so transportation is not that important. I am curious about which has the best pool bar and food court. How are the food courts? Do they have the same things, or do they offer different things?
Love to have a drink and gang out at the pool also, very important for our vacations. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!

the Pop

the outside bar near the swimming pool is hopping more than the inside one.

I would say Pop too. It's the newest and has some fun and interesting food choices. Bus service was good too.

Haven't stayed there yet, but the menu for the Pop food court (at allearsnet.com) looks really good! A lot more variety than the others.

Definately try to stay at POP if you can. The pool bar is called Petals and by a huge margine have the best bartenders. Another plus is there is an inside bar Clasic Concoctions that is open in the evenings. The hours are based on the weather so sometimes only one will be open. What I do sometimes in the eveniings is get my food at the food court and then walk around the corner and eat at the bar. Oh since I now stay at POP their rooms have 25" TVs and I think the AS are 19 or 20s. The food court have just about the same quality and selections but I have had good luck with the POP chefs modifying their poor quality Pizza to something much better.
Have fun

I'm gonna completely disagree and say All Star Movies by FAR!!!

The food at the Pop food court was awful. ASMovies was good.

The bars - Not comparison. There is no atmosphere at the Pop bar at all. The bartenders there were lifeless. Plus, it's very hard to get a seat there.

I even had a conversation with one of the bartenders at ASMovies telling her how much more I preferred the All Stars bar. She told the other bartender "We've got another PCD over here."

Pop Century Deserter.

Says they hear that alot.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with me, its hard planning a trip that everyone will like. We just left 3 weeks ago and trying to plan the next one. I though Spring Break would be a great time to take his son with us, but didn't realize how much more expensive the rates are. I was used to planning in value season. That only left us with the Value resorts or an offsite hotel. I hate the thought of staying off site, but our budget is tight right now. The Value resorts keep you in the middle of things and you still get all the Disney perks. We love EMH and free parking at the parks, among other things. I did show hubby the POP pics on allearsnet.com last night and he liked it. I also showed him pics of ASMovies, thinking he would find it too 'childish', but he thought the dalmation section was adorable. The thing is he is pushing for an offsite, because we can get a suite for the same price as 2 connecting room. I prefer the 2 connecting rooms; seperate bathrooms, 2 TVs, etc....there is more privacy. So, now I just need to encourage hubby, that there is way more 'fun' at Values than at offsite hotels.
Any words of advise would be appreciated!!!

staying offsite you will need a rental car (unless you drive to WDW), plus you will need to pay for parking.

of course, one of the DD hotels has suities - they have shuttles - not as good as WDW shuttles - but better than anything else out there.

staying offsite - I would recommend Cypress Pointe - but only if you can get a 2-bedroom.

Wow..I looked up Cypress Pointe....very nice. The price was also very nice.
I will have to look up info on the other board, thanks for the info!!!!

JHMO, but we loved Pop Century - the food court, the pool bar and the atmosphere. We went once with DS8 and once by ourselves. DH actually requested it the second trip.

We loved the POP Century pool area. (didn't try the pool bar, but looked good) The food court was pretty good and they do have the bar inside as well.
