HI!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.

I RECENTLY VISITED WDW FOR THE TENTH TIME. WE STAYED AT THE BEACH CLUB AND WHILE WE WERE THERE BOUGHT SSR!!!! YIPPEE!

WE HAD ALREADY BOOKED TO STAY IN AN OFF PROPERTY VILLA WITH MY PARENTS IN MAY 04 SO OUR FIRST TRIP TO SSR WILL BE MUCH LATER IN THE YEAR.

I THINK I READ SOMEWHERE THAT AS A DVC MEMBER YOU GET FREE VALET PARKING AT DVC RESORTS. DOES THIS MEAN THAT WHEN I GO IN MAY I CAN VALET AT BCV OR BWV AND WALK TO EPCOT OR MGM EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT STAYING ON PROPERTY?

WHEN YOU STAY AS A DVC MEMBER DO YOU GET THE SAME PARKING PERMIT THAT YOU GET AS A HOTEL GUEST TO ENTER RESORTS OR DO YOU JUST SHOW YOUR CARD?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REPLIES

Yes, but you may be turned away during busy times. Visitors are discouraged from parking in the BW lot to go to the parks. It is intended for those visiting the Boardwalk. That said, I do not believe that applies to valet parking as it seldom fills to capacity.

Yes - it's exactly the same permit as any other resort guest would get. It has the name of the resort and the dates of your stay.

If you are staying at a DVC resort on points your parking permit will say DVC member on it. I believe this is new. During my last WDW trip in Nov was the first time I have ever noticed the parking permit saying DVC member on it.

My first DVC stay was May 2000 and I've always had a "member parking permit" when staying on points.

Valet parking may get more tight at BWV. In the annual meeting, they announced that they are cutting the valet spaces from 400 to 200 and turning the extra 200 spaces into self parking. My hope is that they make those 200 spaces dedicated to Boardwalk Inn & Villas guests.

I hope so too - that would do a lot to alleviate the parking problem for people who are actually staying at BWV & BWI. It can be quite a challenge to find a self parking spot when you return to the resort in the late afternoon or early evening. That's true even when park attendance is low.

FWIW, BW management also said they were going to do this (turn some of the valet parking into self parking) at the 2002 BWV annual meeting. (I attended the 2002 annual meeting, but not the 2003 meeting). So I will believe it when I actually see it.

From the DVC Member website:

Valet Parking at the Walt Disney World® Resort
Disney Vacation Club Members are not charged for valet parking at Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Resort or Disney's Wilderness Lodge, regardless of where you're staying. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID with your "DVC Member" designation on it when leaving your vehicle to be parked.

Members will be charged the daily fee of $6.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you've paid for the valet service, you'll receive unlimited valet parking for the remainder of the day. Whether or not you are charged to valet park, gratuities are still appropriate. There will be no charge for guests with disabilities who have the proper permits.

So the above is clear that you can use Valet Parking for free as a DVC Member at the BCV or BWV/BWI or VWL/WL regardless of where you are staying. If you do not have a parking pass use your member card at the gate.

thanks
