I've heard a few people mention the Val D'Europe supermarket and we've been thinking about trying to get there next time to buy a few bits and bobs and perhaps some alcohol etc  (not so much for me lol). I've read that you can get the RER A train from DLP and just one stop. I was wondering if anyone has been and what its like and also does anyone know approx how much it would cost for 1 stop on the train?

I've been!!!

Not sure how much the train ticket is, but its cheap and only takes a couple of mins .... or you could take the free hotel bus (same as disney hotels and selected hotels) which serves the hotel e'lyssee as this is opposite the Val'd europe :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: (depends on how regular they are when you go though) it only takes 5 mins to get there.

The big supermarket is called Auchan and is great really cheap (well compared to disney), and huge!!! Like a big walmart in the US. Last time we went we bought some snacks and things for our room and to take on the journey home with us.

The rest of the shops I'm not to fussed about - its a newer version of the Metrocentre (see you a fellow geordie!), and given the exchange rate at the moment I doubt clothes and things are in any cheaper? Although when I went in 2006 Zara was much cheaper than the UK.

Are all the shops open on Sunday? We arrive on Sunday and will want to buy food but are not sure if the French have any weird Sunday trading laws.

The Auchan hypermarket is not open on a Sunday but for picking up items we think it is definitely worth a trip.
6 * 2ltr water = €1.06 500ml in the park €2.50 :scared1:
We were going through 2 * 2ltr bottles per day so do the maths ;)

Thanks for that, Reid. We will definitely visit Auchan then, it will just have to wait until the Monday.

Thanks for all the info! I didnt realise about the hotel bus... gonna sound daft here but which hotel bus is it? I can only think of the free shuttle to the park??
Yeah i dont think we'd bother with the rest of the shops really, mainly just some bits and bobs for the hotel room. Plus i'd probably get carried away otherwise and use all my spending money

No problemo you get the bus station next to the train station - and it will be the hotel elysee bus (I think it only stops there), as I said it takes 5 mins and the shopping centre is directly across the road. Auchan is at the other end of the shopping centre so you can have a little wander through (there is a disney store though!).

When we stayed at the hotel elysee we were the only people ever on the bus it was like having our own huge private taxi :rotfl:

There are a few nice restaurants and cafes in the shopping centre too near Auchan which, are quite a big cheaper than disney village. We had a nice italian meal in the conservatory bit of the shopping centre, I think it was right next to the entrance for the sea life centre.

We made our first trip there last week and really enjoyed browsing round the shops, well worth a trip and my three picked up some good bargains in the sales. Wish we'd have known about the bus name though as our hotel told us it was number 50 with Val D'Europe on it, all we had to do was show our hotel easy pass and it was free. We did that to two different buses and the driver didn't know what we were talking about! In the end we walked back to the hotel and booked the shuttle (5 euros each).
