We just bought 180pts into BLT to lock in the price. DH wants me to plan the next 5 yrs (or so) of vacations we might take to make sure we have enough pts or should add on 50 pts now.

This seems so overwhelming. If we are not going to Disney every year or two, what other options could I do with 180? We would need a 1 bdrm for our family. I'm thinking less is more, as we could always bank/borrow and just pay cash if we want to go somewhere other than Disney. Maybe I'm not thinking about this correctly?

Thanks

:) It hink you are being very smart about it. DH and I bought 210 points of AKV in June 09(DecUY). Our first trip was last Oct/Nov. Our next trip will be this Dec.
We got a great price and "free 2008 points" which allowed us to have 2 studios SV for our first trip. We are doing that again this year by banking points into 2010. I wanted to make a trip in Feb but alas it is not in our budget right now....so I will probably bank all of our points. The cool thing was I only had to bank 48 of our 2009 points into 2010 to get my reservation. The rest of my points will have to be banked by 7/31 if we do not use them for sure this year. There is so much flexibility with DVC. Try it for a couple of years with 180 pts. THen make your decision. Incentives change and it my be that prices actually drop if BLT sales slow over the next year....I would play it safe....unless you just have addonitis.:wizard:

I think it also depends on the view that you want to get for your trips. Even in Magic Season (2nd highest points requirement), an MK 1 bedroom is 361 points so your 180 points almost gets you this EOY. But, a LV 1 bedroom is only 297 which you would have more than enough points to cover on the EOY plan.

Unless you know for sure you are going yearly, I think that the 180 is a great place to start.

Good luck!
