For those of you who have tried vacation homes... which ones did you
use and did you have any problems.

We tried a vacation home for the first time last Oct. We went with Florida Leisure because I had read good comments about them here and their web site has videos of the homes so you can pick which one you like. The house and location were great! We paid a $200 deposit when we booked and the balance could be paid when we arrived, although we paid about two weeks in advance so we wouldn't waste any of our vacation time going to their office. We stayed in a gated community and Florida Leisure mailed us the entry code for the gate and the code for the lock box on the front door along with detailed directions on how to get there and what is and is not furnished in the home. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again in the future.

We stayed in a villa in Indian Creek (very close to WDW) which we found through www.vrbo.com. Great experience all around and this website had a bazillion rentals to choose from. All of the owners I dealt with were pleasant and informative and I would use this website again in a second! We also were sent all the particular information about the house prior to our trip (as stated in the above post). We knew what to expect and the home itself was in wonderful condition, well maintained etc.
Hope this helps.

I found a 6 bedroom home 2 miles from Disney World.
The house is awesome and very reasonable considering
it's location.

If anyone needs this information let me know and I will
give you the info that I found.

Shadow8,
Glad that you have found something that you like. I just wanted to reinforce the golden rules when booking a home :

1. Each and every home must be licensed by DBPR. Make sure the home you are staying in is.
2. Make sure that the home you are renting is serviced by a reputable management company. If you have a problem during your stay you must have someone who is local to contact.
3. Do your homework; check MC's credentials with Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, CFPMA and any other body you can think of.
4. Beware of companies offering ridiculously low prices. Some companies do offer bargains but follow rules 1-3 and you should be OK.
5. Make sure the home is fully equipped and is suitable for your needs. Many companies offer a generic house on their website....not the actual house you stay in. Make sure this house has what you want.
6. If location is important to you, make sure you know the address you are staying at. If you post the community on here, folks will tell you how close it is to the parks orthe places you want to visit.
