VA - On-Line Checking

We are off the wonderful world of Disney in a couple of weeks time.
We are flying from Manchester direct to Orlando. In the past we have flown with Thomas Cook and TCD, but this year we have booked with VA. I note that you can check in 24 hours in advance. I was wondering what the benefits are checking in on-line?

I am sure there are lots, but you must still have to queue up with luggage?

If you check-in online you can, more or less, guarantee the seats you select will not be changed and you can print off your own boarding passes (although you don't have to).

Once at the airport you go to the bag drop desks rather than the check in desks so, in theory, the queue should be shorter and move quicker because they only have to tag your luggage.
