v-day gift for mother in law?

Hi, we are going to visit my mother in law tomorrow and I would like to bring her a little gift. Do you think she would prefer flowers or I was thinking of taking the kids to Build-A-Bear workshop and getting her a bear that has a recording in it with the kids saying "We love you Abuela". Which do you think?

For christmas I got her a personalized woven throw with a picture of my kids on it.....do you think the bear is too much like that type of gift? Should I lay off the personalized gifts for a while? Thanks

Does your MIL collect stuffed animals? If not I'd get her some flowers and maybe a card that can record the kids.
I just never got the give an adult a stuffed animal thing.

I'd do the flowers. Only because I was gifted one of those Vermont Teddy Bears once, and I thought it was the biggest waste of money. I would have much rather enjoyed looking at flowers. Have the kids make her cards, she can look at those and think of them.

No, she does not collect stuffed animals. I just went on the build a bear workshop web site and your right.....all the bears seemed childish. It would be a great idea if she collected stuff like that! I'm just trying to think of an original gift that no one (her other grandkids/kids) would get her. Thanks

Both are very nice gifts! Does she get flowers often? If not, I might suggest the flowers. However, most grandmothers love special gifts from the children.

To answer your question, no I don't think it is too much like the throw.

I have gotten her flowers in the past. She spends a lot of time at her daughters house (my SIL) and last time I got her flowers she ended up taking them to her house (she said so she could enjoy them there because she spends a lot of time there) and left them there! I wasnt upset over the fact she took the flowers to my SIL's house, I just thought it was a little odd that she left them there.

I could get ger a gift certificate for a massage or something like that, but i didnt want to spend too much because the throw was super expensive that I got her for christmas....I dont know?? Thanks for all your input and ideas! I'll probably just have the kids make her something!

She is a woman... you can't go wrong with a nice box of chocolate! Have the kids make nice cards, or get one of those recordable Hallmark cards!
