V&A'a Dress Question

What is appropriate to wear to V&A's? I'm planning on a black strapless A-line dress that reaches a little below my knees and black strappy sandles. My DH wants to know if he can wear chinos, a button down shirt and a jacket. Does he need a tie? Should he wear a suit? We're dining there in August, so the heat and humidity is somewhat of a factor. Thanks.

You will be fine. I think that ties are worn by the men. Someone can correct me.

ties are optional, but most men do wear them. you will see everything from slacks, open collar shirts jacket to tuxedos. enjoy!!

You will be fine in that. A tie is not required. Hubby alwasy wears only the jacket with nice shirt or silk tee.

We are going in June. Im wearing a strapless blue calf length evening dress and my hubby will be wearing a suit and tie. Im sure hes going to be hot but he will cope for one night! Have fun im sure youre choices will be fine

I think you guys will be fine. We went for our honeymoon in 2000 and after a few days of sweating it up in shorts and tshirts..it was fun to get dressed up. Have a great time! You WILL LOVE V&A.

Tie is definately optional..but as stated, most men (around 90% or so) wear them.
A suit is also not necsssary. These days , when dining at V&A, I wear a blue sportcoat, tan slacks, loafers, and a Disney tie

Last week we saw a lot of ties and it appeared that every man had a suit coat or sport jacket. The women were wearing dressy pants outfits or skirt/dress outfits, except for one woman, who was in a business suit. Have fun. I love this restaurant.
