Okay.... We have dined at most WDW restaurants at some point in our past visits, but next trip will be a first for V&A.

I understand that it's formal, but what else should I know?

I know a coat is mandatory, but is a suit more appropriate? Exactly what is appropriate for women?

How flexible will they be if some at the table want things "well done", or "something held"?

Is the wine pairing worth while for folks who like wine, but are novices?

Is the atmosphere too stuffy, or are we allowed to laugh and have a good time? (I know it's allowed, but is it proper?)

Is there any special dining etiquette I should be aware of?

How early should we arrive?

Are the tipping guidelines the same as other restaurants?

I realize I could search the board and come up with some of the answers, but what fun would that be? ;)

Anyway, thanx a bunch to all who respond.... :drinking:

In order: Jacket mandatory for men, but not a tie (tho most wear them). Mrs U now wears a nice pantsuit, tho many women wear a dress. I no longer wear a suit--now a blue sportcoat and tan slacks. But you do see a lot of suits--. Percentage- wise you'll see more suits and dresses than you'll see folks like us. Probably a 3 to 1 ratio.
They are very flexible with special cooking requests, etc
Wine pairings are excellent for novices, as all the guesswork is taken away!!
Tho "formal", its not stuffy at all. In fact, the servers at V&A are among the most friendly we've encountered at WDW. By all means have a good time.
No special dining etiquette is required. I wouldn't attempt to eat peas with a knife, nor ride around the restaurant on a make believe horse (like Whispering Canyon) but beyond that, your usual good manners will be just fine!!!
We usually arrive 10 minutes or so prior to our seating time--always been fine.
Tipping as at all fine restaurants.
Hope that helped and I hope you enjoy V&A!!

Well, Uncleromulus covered everything for you but I just wanted to add...have fun!

Oh, and one other thing. The wine pairings are certainly the way to go I think but I have read on the boards that it is possible to split and get half portions each. I find it to be a lot of wine these days! :earseek:

No personal experience with splitting the wine pairings though.

Have a great time. :sunny:

Hi! I just want to add that as far as omitting something or wanting to eat it the way that you like it, they are VERY accomodating! I am a celiac (I can't eat wheat, rye, barley or oats). While I did call ahead of time, I was told that they would make whatever I liked! It was a thrill to be able to order things that I usually can not order at a restaurant. Enjoy, you will love it.

All has already been said!

But you have to do the wine pairing! It just adds to the whole experience!

DD and I had Christmas Dinner there and even she enjoyed the whole experience!

Enjoy! It will be the best meal you've ever had!
