We are planning a trip for next year and are wanting to eat at V&A. My questions is...we are hoping to eat at the Chef's Table, but if we are unable to and end up eating in the main dining room, can a table accomodate a party of 6? There will be 5 of us for sure...but my DMIL may chose to stay back at the hotel with the kiddos since she is a picky eater. TIA

They can accomodate a party of 6 in the main dining room. A few years ago I hosted a group of 8 in the main dining room and all was well. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.

sorry to hijack the thread, but can a person order the Chef's Table menu in the dining room? My family may have to take a couple of short notice trips to Florida in the next few months and the chef's table probably won't be an option with short notice. I have vowed to expand my food horizons by taking the chef's options whenever possible. Thanks

There have been several threads from folks who have done exactly that. I suspect you'd need to call V&A well in advance to make those arrangements.

Hootch,

I would do just as Uncleromulus suggests and call way in advance to inquire about the Chef's Table menu in the dining room. I have been fortunate enough to snag the Chef's Table a handful of times and haven't tried the Chef's Table menu in the dining room. However I have been in the dining room and seen others enjoying the Chef's Table menu. However, for me, the Chef's Table isn't just about the food, it's about the entire experience of watching the kitchen in action. If you haven't been to V&A's yet, you would most definitely be expanding your food horizons with the regular menu (plus you wouldn't have to spend as much). I really enjoy my trips to the regular dining room b/c there I know that I can enjoy the regular menu and a wine pairing without feeling super stuffed.
Enjoy your trip to V&A's.

think the lack of advance notice will make the chef's table difficult if not impossible. I have done chef's tables in a couple of other restaurants and find them very educational. Depending on the occasion I sometimes sit at a counter/bar overlooking the kitchen if possible. Not as informative as a chef's table but still interesting.

They can do tables up to a size of 16.

I'm having a table of 11 in February.

I had an adr for 20th September, as I was in the Grand Floridian on the sunday before, for a meal at Narcoossee's, I asked them if I could have the chiefs menu in the main dining room. They said they would have to check with the chief. Got back to my room and there was a message saying yes I could. It was worth it!

Thank you all. This is the one place that my DH and I really wanted to eat at this trip, but I was concerned because our party size keeps growing (all you have to do is mention a trip to Disney in my family and they all get excited and want to go :yay: ). I had considered trying to order the chef's menu in the main room....but like Gobbles said - I want the chef's table more for the experience and not so much the menu (that will be the bonus ;) ).

Most of the four-tops at V&A (besides being very large) have flip-outs underneath so they can have a round which will comfortably seat seven. If you have a group of eight to twelve they will put you in the "private dining room"

My husband and I were at V@A I believe in 2005. We loved it. We only had a table in the regular dinning room but that was great for us first timers. Enjoy the fun and food and especially the desert no matter where you are sitting. Tammy
