UUUUGGGGG! Just Cancelled our September Aulani trip ;(

I had heard the measures that you described, and that made me more hopeful for our March trip. Now, I am less hopeful. DH wants to buy air for March, but I am not convinced. What to do???

We got our Airfare through AA, and they said we have credit until DEC 2021....hope this helps/ if unsure contact the airline directly

Hope that things improve and you can go to beautiful Hawaii! IF you fly United and book by July 31st, there is no change or cancel fee. So if you are ok with having a travel credit that you have to use in a year, than perhaps you will get a lower farenow! Good Luck!

I am booked for Aulani in October- we'll go if it's open but not sure if they will be at this point. The negative test within 72 hours seems like a fair compromise, far more than other states are doing.

Hawaii has the 2nd highest unemployment in the country right now since so much of their economy depends on tourism... I don't think they can stay closed until there's a vaccine which is at least 6-12 months out. Unemployment benefits will start to run out shortly.

Hey Gang,
Due to the situation we are all dealing with/ and that Hawaii just extended their 14 day quarantine until September. This was going to be our 30th anniversary trip. Oh well better safe then sorry.....Please be safe!

Robin & Angel "D"

Congratulations on 30 years!
Our 35th Anniversary trip is scheduled for the end of September. I haven't cancelled yet, but it really does not look like we will be going this year. We are talking about postponing till next September. 😢 I want to go to Hawaii and truly enjoy all that it has to offer. We are sad but on the bright side, we are healthy and safe.

The 72 hour negative test result is a great compromise if testing facilities can accommodate. In our state tests are up to 10 days before results now. Hard to hinge an entire trip on the hope that a result will be back before you board a plane. Hopefully it all works out soon.

Yeah, can be tough to meet the 72 hours in some states. I'm in NYC and we have massive testing capacity here given the situation in March/April... I know people who went in the last couple of weeks and got results in less than 24 hours. If we get a second wave I'm sure it'll go up.

I wonder what happens if you don't get the results until 1-2 days after you arrive.. hopefully you could end your quarantine then.

Our 30th is next Spring and I wanted to do a surprise trip to Aulani or even a cruise. This whole thing has just taken the Pixie Dust right out of me.

I hope rapid testing is just around the corner for the rest of the states.

I wondered the same thing about not getting results before you land so I actually looked it up a few weeks ago. They say you can't rent a car or ride in a taxi/ride share/shuttle/etc. if needing to quarantine so you would have to know someone on the Island that can pick you up or hope at least one member in your party doesn't have to quarantine so they could rent the car.

I am sorry to hear this....the unknown is what this is all about/ if / but/ wish/ should....all sounds great but until the have a vaccine, I don't think Hawaii will open.

Hawaii will open as soon as they can do what Alaska is doing now, which is having everyone land with a negative test in hand or you can't leave the airport. They want their tourists back, the main reason they pushed the quarantine out is their inability to get reagents to test people since the surges in Florida and Texas "redirected" the supply that Hawaii had been allocated.

They’re also seeing increased community spread.
