Utopia Of The Seas - Too much of a party ship for kids (age 13 & 11)?

I have done only one 4 night cruise (on Freedom) and did not find it to be a more party atmosphere than what I’ve experienced on longer cruises.

We’ve never experienced any issues with a party atmosphere on any of the cruise we’ve taken, long or short. We’ve seen people drunk before noon on both long and short, and on pretty much every cruise line. Our girls didn’t even notice.

I'm late to this thread, but I wanted to second what people have said here. We are long term DCL cruisers who switched primarily to RCCL a couple of years ago. We prefer the longer cruises, and we have found those to be much more tame. Yes, there is more of a party/drinking feel to the shorter cruises on the Utopia, but it is primarily because of the shorter cruise. It would not be any different than what was experienced on the Allure (if you're comparing 4 night to 4 nights). The 3 nights run Friday to Monday, and I would avoid those if you could. None of those compare to what (total speculation) it will be like on the Wonder of the Seas when it moves to Miami for short cruises later this year.

We are on a B2B on Utopia right now, actually, and even with it being Valentine’s Day/long weekend, there has been a really nice group of passengers for both sailings. There are TONS of kids, more than any other cruise the ship has completed in its short lifespan, so much so that the bar staff has been complaining about how dead the bar venues have been. Other than mind-numbingly loud music from the pool deck for sailaway, I haven’t noticed a party vibe any more than on our Wish sailings.

We did a 4-night on Utopia last week and didn't feel it was any more of a party atmosphere than any other Royal cruise we've been on.

The only difference we noticed was that, with it being a short cruise, everyone was out more trying to experience the ship's amenities which made elevator waits a bit long at times (mostly near meal times).
