Using TS credits for CS?

We're going to WDW in January. DH is a very picky eater and can't find a lot he likes on the TS menus (he'd prefer to get adult portions of the kids offerings). Can we trade our TSes for CS and is it a one for one exchange?

TIA

Lynne

If you are not going to use your TS credits the DDP is not for you. You will save a ton of money if you just pay for you CS out of pocket.

we already booked our non-refundable meal plan - I hadn't researched the menus and thought that there'd be something DH would like on the menus. So I'm stuck with the DDP but am hoping not to have to buy CSes on top of not using TSes (Hopefully this makes sense).

Maybe you could still eat at the TS restaurants and maybe they could give him adult size portions off the kids menu. Does he like steak? You can get a steak at pretty much all of the TS restaurants, he could get it plain, if he does not care for the sauce and sides.

Good Luck

He'll do plain steak at Le Cellier, but our plans for Cinderella for supper are out - there is just nothing on the menu for him. We're going to try Hollywood and Vine one night.

thanks for your input!

I called Disney today and asked about the same thing and was told that ts can not be changed into cs

I would think that you could order whatever you want and call that a TS. For example order a hamburger at LeCelliar and tell the waitress it is a TS because it is. If you call ahead most places are VERY accommodating, I think you can get chicken finger and mac and cheese everywhere.LOL :lmao:

What does your son like to eat? Is he on an Adult TS or Child TS? Just ask your server and you should be able to get what you want for the TS. Good Luck. Remember you get appetizers and deserts too, so you should be able to fill him up!

My DH is a picker eater too. For dinner, my DH just likes pasta or anything with chopped meat. I looked over all the menus and picked places that had something he would like for his TS. He enjoyed eating at Concourse, Rose & Crown, Alfredos, Wolfgang Pucks and Donald's breakfast. I also noticed that alot of the TS places had more things he liked at lunchtime, so you might want to use a TS at lunch. Try Cinderella's at breakfast time. If you look around I'm sure you'll find food he likes and most places will always give you an adult portion of a child's meal.

It's my husband, not my son that's the picky eater (we're kid free). There are no appies that appeal to him at all -- I can't believe there is no garlic bread at some of these places. I think we have it worked out now -- btwn breakfast TSes and places where he can order a plain steak, etc.

thanks

Lynne

Whoops I posted to the wrong person - it should have been in response to Cmbar's post.

Thanks ILVPOOH for commiserating with me - it sounds like we can work it out.

cheers

This is our 1st time with the DDP, but my hubby is the same way. In the past he has been allowed to order off the kids menu at TS locations and get pizza or chicken fingers.

Do you guys like buffets? Many (if not most) of them have a "children's buffet" with mac and cheese, chicken fingers, pizza, etc.
I'm also a very picky eater, and Dh is fairly picky as well (for some strange reason NONE of our kids are picky, and will eat anything). I really liked the buffet at the Crystal Palace. In addition to the "childrens buffet" they also had rolls/bread, mashed potatoes and gravy, prime rip, chicken, and really good desserts. Of course the downside is that it is a character meal; not sure if that's something you'd want to do or not. Another meal I really enjoyed (not dh so much) was the character dinner at Liberty Town Tavern. Very basic food: roast beef, turkey, stuffing, rolls, mashed pototoes and gravy.
I would probably tend to stay away from any of the Worldshowcase restaurants, with the exception of Le Cellier (if he likes steak). We tried Akerhaus in Norway, and neither my dh or I liked it. I'm sure it's good food; we're just too picky.
I would imagine they would let you use TS credits for CS if you wanted to....heck, they'd come out way ahead if that was the case! However I would try out the TS restaurants instead, just because (cheap as I am) it would burn me up knowing I was paying $37.00/day....for a $6.00 CS sandwich.

I'm not a big buffet person but that seems to be the best bet. We've found a couple of restaurants and are doing a couple of breakfasts so our TS should be all used up.

thanks

Lynne :o)

There are probably enough TS options using everyone's suggestions, but if you wind up 'needing' to use a TS credit for a CS meal, you can do that now. I just did it on my last trip for one member of our party due to a scheduling issue. In fact, when you trade the TS meal for a CS meal, you also get a pin, poster, or extra snack (I think those were the options - I could be forgetting something or it may change). We chose the pin, were given a coupon for it (had to remind the cashier), and took it to the hotel gift shop, where we got to choose from a few different pins that came with a lanyard. You do need to tell the cashier ahead of time that you want to use a TS credit.
