Using tickets with an offsite-onsite split stay?

With all the changes with regard to magic bands, I am wondering if I will encounter any problems with my tickets. We are staying at AKL & I will be purchasing tickets & linking them to my magic bands in MDE. (So we can take advantage of pre planning FP+) My only concern is that we are now thinking that we might take a day in the parks before we are scheduled to check in at AKL. I would assume that I could use them like normal tickets until I check in, then they would switch to the MB? I know that I would not be able to pre plan the FP+ for the days that we are offsite. Anyone have experience with this?
