I love, love, love
Walmart pickup! You do have to watch prices, especially on fresh things--so far, the online groceries are priced nationally. That means that blueberries, for example, cost the same in Maine as they do in Kansas. I suspect they'll change this, eventually, but I don't buy a ton of fresh fruit or meat through the pick-up.
I get it about once a week, sometimes more. I typically have a substitution each trip, but I'm not picky (and I have 4 kids, so stuff goes quickly, regardless of brand). I rarely reject a substitution, but when I have, it's not a big deal (they once gave me shampoo as a substitute for conditioner--nope!).
You can get alcohol. They will card you, much to my amusement.
Our local Walmart is right on the way to the beach--it would be perfect for ordering subs, snacks, drinks, etc. If you can't order ice, you could just run in and get that, and be on your way in minutes.
While you can't tip, I did leave some Christmas goodies last year, since I'm a regular and the people are so nice. YOu can also help them out by doing the online survey and mentioning the name of your worker.
I find it's good for most things, but I still find myself going into Walmart for stuff that doesn't show up on the website, or I just want to browse. I've ordered non-food items--printer ink, a Scrabble game--and they don't bat an eyelash.
