Using taxis and Lyft at WDW

I'm thinking of using taxis and/or Lyft to get around at WDW instead of the buses. With our daughter's disability and the stroller/wheelchair we use I'm afraid the buses will be a big hassle. I'm concerned that we might have to wait for more than one bus with the current limited space on the buses.

Has anyone here done that? Do you know what the typical cost is to take a taxi or Lyft from resort to park or resort to resort?

You will need an XL vehicle probably. You can google Lyft XL and Uber XL. They will have the space you need. Taxis are more expensive. Uber and LYft are so easy to get in the app and we use them several times each trip.

The cost from BWV to Universal studios was $16.53 plus tip in December 2020-TOYOTA TACOMA0-UBER. Wilderness Lodge to HOllywood Studios in October $18.41 plus tip-LYFT XL-Chevrolet TAHOE. There are ride calculators you can google and get an estimate of the cost. There are times when the rides are more expensive. Our return from Universal to the Boardwalk was probably $8 more.

I haven't done this around WDW, but have in other cities with my sister and her wheelchair or EVC. When we had the wheelchair, I just folded it up and into the trunk it went without any issues. For the EVC, we haven't tried lyft yet, but with taxis, we either lucked out to a HA taxi being near or I broke down the EVC and put it into the trunk without issue.

As for price, try: https://ride.guru/. This way you can put in some places you might do this and get an estimated cost. I have done lyft and taxis around WDW without any mobility devices. For most places using lyft, the cost was less than $20, tip included, and was usually resort to resort. The taxi was usually slightly more expensive.

WDW internal transportation is currently loading 2 mobility devices per bus as of recent reports (including someone I know personally who was there over the holidays).

Your chances of waiting for a bus can also depend on which Disney Resort you stay at; Values will tend to have more folks at bus stops than Mods, and Deluxes seem to have the easiest time of all.

You can also minimize your need for transportation by the location of the Resort you stay at - Skyliner Resorts, or any of the Resorts between HS & Epcot mean you only have to worry about transport to/from MK & AK (and Disney Springs, if like me, you cannot resist the siren song of shopping and a lovely glass of Jam Jar Red at Wine Bar George...)

Stay at a Monorail Deluxe, and you have MK & Epcot covered... (when the Epcot line is reopened)

Yeah we were there in December, and my son uses a custom wheelchair/stroller that is transit ready (Convaid). They are loading two mobility devices per bus, and we didn't really encounter any extensive waits because of the chair.

The only incident we had where we weren't able to get in the bus involved a bus leaving HS where the ramp was broken. They took the whole bus out of service and no one could board. Some people were mad at us bc of we hadn't needed the ramp they would've been able to get on. That's the only time I didn't get on the bus.
Were going back in March, and plan to solely use the internal transportation again.

We ended up renting a minivan for 10 days for about $400 from Thrifty, overall that is $40 a day, which is likely cheaper than hiring an Uber/Lyft, but it does depend on your party's size.

That would end up getting very expensive, and you are still waiting for a car that can accommodate you. You would be better off renting a car. The Disney busses do a great job of getting those with mobility devices around. And let's face it, it's a "hassle" no matter what route you use. At least Disney busses are free.
