Using resale points + direct purchase points for a cruise

If I buy the bulk of my points on resale and then buy a small amount of additional points directly from Disney, would I be able to use all of my points for a cruise (or anything in the Concierge Collection, the Disney Collection or the Adventurer Collection)? If so, would all of the points need to be in the same use year? I apologize if this has already been asked, but I could not find the answer.

I don't believe so.

But before you get all excited about that, you should look at the points costs of cruises and figure out whether it really makes sense for your family. The points costs are VERY high, and most feel you're way ahead by just renting out DVC points and paying cash for the cruise.

Whatever the relative costs, I certainly would NOT use the availability (or lack thereof) of cruising as an excuse to buy direct.

If you're going to buy DVC, buy DVC for DVC. That's where the value is, whether you buy direct or resale.

I definitely plan to use it for DVC resorts 99.9% of the time. I just wanted to know if it was possible for that 0.1% chance that I might want to use the points else-wise.

Resale points bought now would be unusable for the cruise or the Disney collections you mention and adding some direct purchase points from DVD would not change that prohibition. Your computer account that MS has for you tracks resale versus direct purchase points and it is not possible for those resale points to be applied to the cruise or those three collections.
