Using Priceline

I was just wondering if anyone has used Priceline "name your own price" to get airline tickets?

If so, what kind of price did you end up paying and how were the flight times?

Priceline is a bit of a gamble for airline tickets. You can usually find rates about 30% lower than standard (check on betterbidding.com or biddingfortravel.com to see what others in your area are getting), but you're completely at their mercy with regards to flight times. I've used Priceline once for a flight, got decent flight times (6pm outbound, and 2pm inbound), but I wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere, otherwise I could have gotten much better flight times by not using priceline.

We used to use priceline all the time for airline tickets but lately our bids haven't been accepted. For last year's MCO trip, we were able to get air from CO for about $215 after fees and taxes using priceline. Our flight times were okay, we got in really late (around 930 pm) and we left late, around 6 pm. This year, we bid up to 175 before fees and taxes (I think it would have been 225 with fees and taxes) but our bids weren't accepted. We were able to get air from Delta for 252 instead.

If you're flexible about the flight times, it doesn't hurt to try and bid. Check out biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com for more priceline tips.

I've used them several times to fly to MCO. Times were usually around 10am depart & 5pm arrive with one stop. I would check hotwire.com & then make my bid slightly lower. I am within driving distance of two major airports, so if my first bid wasn't accepted, I could raise my bid & change airports.
