Using points for Disney collection

We're planning a 10-day Disneyland trip for next June (yes, I do realize that is a long time at DLR, but we love long Disneyland trips). We own at VGC, BLT, and AKV. We plan on using a mix of points for our trip. I have already booked the last four nights of our trip using some VGC points, but I have to wait until the 7-month mark to book the first six nights since we will be using BLT points. We're hoping for a 1BR for the whole trip, so I hope that will work in our favor.

On the chance that I can't get the first six nights at VGC, we have enough BLT points to book the Disneyland hotel if the point charts are about the same as this year's points. When will the 2017 points chart come out for the Disney collection? Can I book online? Is it hard to get? Is there still a $95 fee? If at the 7-month mark, we can't get VGC, should I go ahead and book Disneyland hotel? Do they have a limited allocation of rooms that they will allow to be booked with DVC points?

There's still a $95 fee. Not sure how hard it is to book.

I would price out a cash booking as well and figure out how much you'd be spending compared to renting your BLT points for $11.70pp. Trades into the Disney Collection tend to be low return on the point value for renting and booking cash instead.

Yeah, I'll have to take that into consideration also. A couple of years ago, we rented AKV points and then I rented VGC points here on the boards to get the 11-month advantage....

There is no $95 fee. Unless that changes for 2017. I booked GC hotel side for Labor Day weekend this year and did not have to pay the fee.

I called last week about availability and was told end of July early August for the DL hotels (I am trying to book May) Hoping points don't go up!

No $95 fee for DL hotels nor does the rule of 4 apply although that isn't something you'll be looking at falling under. There isn't exactly a consistent time that the charts are released - seems like it's been Sept in the last year or two but it's it's varied over the years. You can't book the Disney collection online. Personally if I wasnt able to book VGC at 7 months I'd set up a waitlist for a bit beforeI thought about booking one of the hotels for points. June is a busy time so hard to say how the booking will go. You might also look at renting some VGC points and renting out your BLT.
