using magical express from Toronto

Just a quick question about the express,when I get to Orlando after flying out of Toronto do I pick up my bags or does the express service do it.There was some talk about foreign residents about picking up their own bags before going to the express counter any experiences.thank you

I've asked the same question previously, and been assured by everyone on the forum that you can just walk off the plane, proceed to transportation and head to the DME counter. Your baggage will be picked up by the DME folks and delivered to your room in about 3-5 hours after your arrival. Just make sure you have the lime green DME luggage tags affixed to your checked-in suitcases to help identify them as DME baggage before you leave Toronto.

We just used the service from Toronto in October - all we did was to make sure the yellow tags were attached in Toronto and when landing in Orlando we walked off the plane strait to the ME counter to check in - it was so very easy! Loved it!

The rule seems to be, if you pass through customs in your 'canadian' airport or some airport before Orlando, you just go to the bus and DME takes your bags. If you don't go through customs before Orlando, you need to get your bags. From what I understand, if you are not an arriving international passenger, for security reasons you are not allowed in the international baggage claim area. The claim area you go to if you already cleared customs is the same as any other US domestic flight. That's why you see arrivals from US cities all around you.

Thanks to everyone for the info,we'll be going from May 12-19 staying at the Coronado with the grandaughter(first time) 6 yo.Just making sure everything runs smooth for her(and me lol)

I am very confused by all this. We just went in May and had the whole package including magical express and all and flew air transat from toronto.
When we landed we were told we had to claim our own luggage and then took it with us through all the bull&^$% of security (another 2 times!!) and then go to the other terminal and take it the the ME desk when we checked in for our ME bus to our hotel.
It sure would be alot easier if we could just checkin our luggage in toronto and not see it until the hotel that's for sure.
???? confused.....we are going again on Jan. 20th and I don't know what to do about the luggage????

When we went down in Oct/Nov (Air Canada) we had to claim our own bags off the luggage racks(did not have to go through any type of security check) and went to the ME counter with our bags and had to take them with us to the bus. I actually like that better as we had all of our luggage with us when we arrived rather than waiting all day for it at the hotel.

I can only assume that you did not clear customs in Canada and had to when you arrived in Orlando.

We have used ME three times now, once through each of Toronto, Montreal and Boston and have never had to claim our bags. Each time we passed through customs in each of those airports prior to Orlando.

As far as customs entering the U.S. goes, it depends on your airline and home airport and also on random security checks.

You must go through customs somewhere. If you did not go through customs when you boarded, you will have to go through customs in Orlando.

I'm told that in case of inbound Orlando customs before taking the tram, you can hand the baggage back at or near the customs station and they will deliver it the short distance to the carousels whereupon yellow tagged ME baggage will be culled and sent to your resort for you. They will probably give you some song and dance about it taking longer for the luggage to reach the carousels compared with your carrying it. Replying with (coming back with) your not wanting to rent a Smarte Carte (tm) is perfectly good. However it is true that you will beat the luggage to the resort if you don't carry it yourself.

Have used ME on last 2 trips out of Montreal on AC and Toronto on WJ. Did not have to claim luggage either time, it was delivered to the resort within a couple of hours.

We used ME for the first time!

I took our luggage with us since we did not receive the luggage tags. If you are given the tags and want them to take the luggage for you, that is how they identify which resort the luggage has to go to.

You have to check in at their counter and then you line up to get on the proper bus. They put our luggage under the bus which was great since our room was ready and we just took everything up with us.

Just make sure that anything that you may need right away is with you. It could be awhile until you do see your luggage!

We used ME when we travelled to the World in January 2006. We only booked it on the Wednesday, for Sunday travel, so we didn't have the yellow ME tags for our bags. We did clear U.S. customs at Toronto airport, and flew Westjet, for what its worth, I don't know if airline makes a difference.

The greeter at Orlando directed us to the ME counter, where we were shown a folder with pictures of different types of suitcases and bags. I pointed out the closest ones to ours, and told them the colour. They took a copy of my baggage claim tags and sent us to the bus.

We arrived at CSR checked in and went out to dinner at the Boardwalk. When we returned to our room around 9pm the bags were there. Everything intact.

I thought it was a marvelous service. I hate waiting by those carousels for the bags. Mine always seem to come out last. It really worked out well for me, because I was travelling with two kids, and no hubby to help with the luggage.
