Using Frequent Flyer miles and cash

We will be needing two airline tickets (delta) to London. I have enough points for 2 super saver tickets, but doubt I will be able to get them (I will attempt it by booking 331 days in advance). I can get one choice saver with miles and pay cash for one ticket. Is it possible to do this in one reservation? I really don't want to have to deal with two separate reservations.

I've done split bookings during the same call, but AA always has done the actual ticketing on separate reservations. Paid ticket(s) on one reservation; reward ticket(s) on a second reservation. It's not too much of a hassle and well worth it for the "free" ticket, IMO. Not sure exactly how Delta does it but would guess it's the same.

You might want to look into the possibility of buying two tickets and using your miles to upgrade.
However on Delta you have to buy an M fare to do this. An M fare is generally OUTRAGEOUS!!! LOL! (It's one step below a FULL FARE ticket to London, think a couple of grand!)

I do this often (with United). The tickets are on separate PNRs, but I ask the agent at United - or my travel agent, if I'm using one - to make a note to link the two together.

The other ticket is always for my young daughter, so linking the two makes sure that somehow we don't get separated.

Thanks for the responses. I will book the two separately online and then call and see if they can link them. We have quite a bit of time before we need to book anyway. We aren't going until March '09. We would prefer not to be seated separately, but have managed to get people to switch before. This is our anniversary trip and hopefully our last vacation prior to having children, so I just want to make it as easy as possible.

If I were you I would try calling to book the FF tickets. IMHO you have a better chance at getting two seats, plus they can check the "partner" airlines for the two seats you need.

Delta found me a seat from TYS to Zagreb Croatia a few weeks ago. I couldn't do it on line and I couldn't even find the DL flights to CDG that she found..... It was worth the fee....
