Anyone do this? Redeem their FF miles for hotels? Sounds like you pay Rack Rate (with the points of course) but if not planning to fly anywhere, its a good deal? Yes? No?

We did our trip in June on FF Delta skymiles. We had been saving miles forever and never really could get much out of them. We only paid about $200 out of pocket for 3 nights at the Hampton Inn LBV(2 nights-free expanded breakfast), Hilton DTD (1 night-used for the only day we were going to the parks for purpose of extra magic hours.) and 3 nights at the Tradewinds in St. Pete Beach (suite).

So we got 6 nights of hotel for $200. Alternative would have been 1 free round trip plane ticket. I believe we paid about $185 ea for our airfare.

I say go for it....but shop around to get the most out of your miles!

We just did this too -the number of miles is based on the room rate per night, so you need to play around and see what looks good and if it's worth it. But, if they're expiring, it's a great use.

How do you use FF miles for hotels? I don't know much about this kind of thing I'm afraid.

In October, I redeemed some Delta miles for a couple of nights at Pop Century. At the time I booked, there were 2 different mileage levels for standard rooms. It appears that one was driven off the rack rate and the other was driven off a public room-only discount. It wasn't the best use of miles, but it's getting tougher for me to find good flight redemption levels with my Skymiles so I didn't mind using them for the hotel.

Leslie, with Delta it's a "use miles" option off their Skymiles pages.

OP here. Thanks for the replies. I think I may try it!
So you redeem the miles from the airline site?
Anyone ever redeem Continental FF miles for hotels?

The redemptions would be through the airlines site. Not all airlines offer hotel stays as an option for mileage redemption. I just looked at the Continental OnePass site and only the Continental Airlines Chase credit or debit cardmembers can use miles for hotel stays and car rentals.
