Using Disney's Dining Plans when renting points???

My daughter and her husband are planning to rent DVC points next April and stay at OKW. They have been to WDW before, stayed on property and used one of the Disney Dining Plans. They would like to use the Dining Plan again. However, when they called Member Services to see if it's possible, they said that they wouldn't talk to them because they weren't members. When she talked to another dept. that they transferred her to, they said she would have to ask Member Services...a bit of a run-around! Does anyone know if you can use the Disney Dining Plan when you are renting DVC points? They would like to join DVC eventually, but want to try it first. The Dining Plan is important to them. Please let us know if you have had any experience.

Yes you can add the dining plan if you are renting points. You will have to have the person you are renting from add the dining plan for them.

DVC Member Services will only talk to the members who own the points. Your daughter can have the Disney Dining Plan, but she'll have to ask the member she's renting the points from call and add it to the reservation.

For DVC, you don't pay for the Dining Plan until you check in. She won't need to send any more money to the member, just pay for the Dining Plan when she checks in. Everything else about the DDP is the same. You must get it for every person in the room for every night of your stay. It must also be added to the reservation in advance; it can't be added at check-in.

The same rule about who can talk to Member Services also applies if you want to add Disney's Magical Express to the reservation. The member will have to call Members Services with your daughter's flight information.

And the rules also apply if there is a problem with the reservation. She won't be able to talk to Member Services for any reason.
