Using Disney Visa Card Rewards for Resort Stay?

I got this card three years ago to use the rewards for our upcoming trip. I was not able to purchase park tickets over the phone with my rewards. I was told I could only do that at the parks. Now, I wondering if I'm going to run into the same problem when booking our resort stay in advance. Anyone have any experience with this?

In order to use your points, you need to request a gift card and transfer your points to it. You cannot transfer points to pay for things over the phone, but once you have the gift card, you certainly can use that. That's what we did. It works like a debit/credit card. You provide the card number and expiration and they run the card like any other. You may have had a new CM. Just make sure you have enough on the card or let them know how much to run through if you do not. If you try to pay with an insufficient balance, it may confuse them.

Anyways, just request the rewards card before you go. Transfer your points and you can use the card at guest relations to apply towards your room or whatever else you purchase at any time when you get there.

I would tell you to use the website to book tickets and room since you can just key in the card number and apply it, but there have been so many issues with the site since they updated it that it can be really frustrating.

As the other poster mentioned, as long as you have the rewards card you can pay over the phone.

However, since you're doing a room only reservation you do not have to pay until you arrive. You can just have them run the rewards card at check-in and then pay the balance however you were planning to.


I usually get the rewards card with just the minimum amount on it. Then I just call and have them instantly add the rest of the points when we are on our way to or already at Disney. That way if for some reason we had to cancel our trip I wouldn't be stuck with all my points on a card.

I just last night paid $611.54 with Dream Rewards for our AoA Cars Suite! I am a "Charter Cardmember" since 2002, which is also the last time I went to WDW!!! - BUT you have to log in to your Chase account online (chase.com/disney) and then go to "Manage My Rewards" Then on the right side of the screen there is a list and there is one that says "Transfer my rewards" In that page there is a button to click to request a rewards redemption card (it looks like a gift card/credit card) - they will mail it to you and it will arrive in about 3-7 business days. Once you get that, log back in and transfer the reward points to your redemption card. Then you can call and use the Disney Dollars to pay the balance (if you have enough) for your room reservation. You can also, I believe, buy park tickets with the redemption card, too - but it's like a cash-card - you have to load it up with your points first. GOOD LUCK!

You can also pick-up a rewards cards at any Guest Services and then call Chase and they will add the points to it. I did this two weeks ago. Cards expire the end of 2013.
