Ok, so the plan was to use our airmiles to book our room but we got a great deal for GF and paid out of pocket. So now, I wanted to use our miles to get park tickets, can I buy a 1 day park ticket with my airmiles? (1 child, 3 adults) Does anyone know how many miles I would need (we don't need park hopper)? Also, I am trying to cut corners everywhere, can I 'buy' the dining plan with my miles too? Thanks so much!

PS I am SOOOO EXCITED to be going back and staying at the Grand Floridian :dance3:!! Just had to share with people who will understand!!

The minimum number of days (per the airmiles site) you can buy with airmiles is 3 days. However, it will cost you more than it will to get a 5 or 7 day ticket through airmiles:

3 day base ticket = 2375 airmiles
5 day base ticket = 2290 airmiles
7 day base ticket = 2350 airmiles

Dining can not be purchased through airmiles.

ETA: Also note that the Dining plan can only be added when booking a package. Room only reservations can not add the dining plan, unless you are a DVC member.

You could book a package through Marlin travel and redeem for gift cards to pay for the package. That is one way to have dining plan "paid" for.

aww man, I didn't know I could do that! I booked through flightcentre, it's too late now, but could I have them somehow make a pkg of just the tix and meal plan and add it to my existing reservation? Thanks soo much for your help!

You booked hotel or flights through flightcentre? If hotel, did you get the 40% room only discount for the GF? The Disney pkg that you need to get dining is hotel room, park tickets and dining (no flights required)

No, I don't believe you can do it that way. I think what you have to do is cancel your existing reservation and book a new one.

ETA: A Disney package is Resort and Park Tickets in the same reservation. To qualify for a package you have to purchase at least a 1 day ticket, per person, in your reservation.

Except for perhaps the booking a package through CAA and getting a CAA discount any other deals you find are going to be the same as booking directly with Disney. Disney ensures no one udercuts them. So whatever deal you got with this flight centre should be the same deal you could get by booking with Disney or Marlin travel and using your Airmiles for the passes or to pay for the package.

Unfortunately, if you book with a discount, then cancel the reservation, there is no guarantee you will get the same discount when you re-book.

True enough! Just wonder what kind of deal this flightcentre had that made it more appealing than booking directly through Disney? :confused3

we paid $600 for 2 nights for the room (2 queen beds and a daybed) with a lagoon view (there are 3 adults and 2 kids), it was $475 an night online at Disney and Airmiles was quoting something ridiculous like 5500 airmiles for the same thing. Now I am wondering if I could cancel with flightcentre and call Marlin and rebook with a package. I will call them now and tell you all what happened. Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it.

ok, so I just called and Marlin said we can only use airmiles for a package (flight, hotel, tickets, transfers) and not room only. So there goes that. I am going to call airmiles now to get park tickets, at least I can save some money there. Thanks again everyone.
