We usually rent a car for our Disney trips, but since we were only there for a few days and the service is still free, we decided to give ME a try. It actually took us longer to get to our hotel than it ever has when weve claimed our luggage and rented a car it was 2 hours from touchdown to our arrival at the Contemporary.
In the airport we found a CM who instructed us to follow those people to whom she had just given instructions. Unfortunately, those people were either misinformed or didnt follow directions, and we all ended up lost. Luckily DH and I are pretty familiar with MCO and eventually found the ME desk.
We then waited in the airport lobby for about 25 minutes before our ME bus arrived, although people heading for other resorts seemed to have a shorter wait. Our bus made four stops (Wilderness Lodge, Poly, Grand Floridian, and finally our stop -- the Contemporary).
The luggage did get to our room with 4 hours. Our room was ready so we were able to drop off our carry-ons and freshen up before going out to eat, and when we returned to our room our luggage had arrived.
On the return trip, we werent able to use the luggage check-in because our airline isnt participating, but the people in front of us were also refused check-in even though their airline does participate. The CM didnt know why, only that sometimes the airline will want the guest to check in at the airport. For us it was pretty simple, although we had to drag all our luggage from the first level of the airport to the third level. Again, our familiarity with MCO came in handy, but otherwise I would have found it confusing. Since the ticketing lines were fairly long, we just went out to the curb and checked in with a skycap, like we would normally do before turning in the rental car.
Overall, it was ok. For those who dont like driving Id recommend it. DH likes to have his own car, though, and anyway wasnt impressed with how long it took to get to our resort, even though others have reported getting to their resorts in less time than we did.
