Use years query

We're considering purchasing resale and primarily our holidays will be taken in January or ocassionally February. We'd also like to go once in October to experience MNSSHP.

The use year thing has been driving me mad - so can anyone advise on what would be the best UY for us?

Use years get more confusing the more you think about them don't they??

Try going to the main DVC boards & search "use year" in DVC planning board you will find lots of confused members there but fortunately there are lots of very knowledgeable members also & i am sure you will find the advice you need.

When we joined there was no choice over use year and have to say it really has not made much difference to us. If you were always going to go the same time of year you may want a use year just before your planned visit, especially if you were not planning a visit every year. In reality the whole deal is so flexible the use year may be an uneccesary worry.

We actually have two use years ( bought an additional resale) and while that can be be a little thought provoking at times it doesn;t affect when we actually go.

My understanding is that you are better off with a UY just before you would normally take a holiday. Because we plan so far in advance, and are less likely to change our plans than the Americans, I never thought it would be an issue for us. However, in April of this year I had a trip arranged with a friend which had to be cancelled at the last minute due to an accident. Because my UY is April, I have until the end of next March to use the points which are in a holding account - the best possible scenario in the circumstances.

I'm pretty certain there isn't a January UY, so in your situation December would probably work best.
