Use Year Selection Advice

Ok. We finally decided to purchase into DVC at BLT. They told us we could select any use year we want. Our trips are pretty much always in October and May (sometimes December as well). The guide recommended an Oct Use year. Does everyone else think this would be the best option and why?

yes, i'd agree with oct.

the short answer is that if that if you have to cancel a reservation, you give yourself the best options not to lose points if you travel in the first 8 months of your use year.

If I select an October use year, wouldn't I have a problem booking October ressies? If I receive my points on 10/1 this year and want to use them for next October, they would expire on 9/30, correct? So maybe November would be better? Just want to make sure I fully understand the use year. We always go to Disney in October and May and sometimes December so I want to utilize the 11 month banking windows if possible.

i have an october UY and travel primarily in november and december.

UY has nothing to do with when you can call and book. absolutely zero.

you can call and book your home resort at 11 months out regardless of your UY month. the riskiest thing you can do is travel in the last few months of your use year (i.e. travel in oct when you have a nov UY).
