Use Year Data?

I recall seeing information similar to this in the past, but seem to be having a hard time locating at the moment. Is there data available which shows how many contracts of each use year was sold at each resort (ie. there are 10% PVB contracts that have an October user year).

Might be because there are no use years for Jan, May, July and Nov? So the month following each of those is carrying the weight of both months.

Once a resort is sold out, It’s not going to change enough to change any decisions you might make from it. Maybe a few tenths of a percent a decade.

I don’t think there was any requirement. If you compare the UY distribution for HHI, VB and BWV, the first three DVC resorts opened after OKW, you’ll note none of them have anywhere near equal distribution of UY.

I don’t think I’ve ever read an explanation for how DVC decides to assign UY to a new resort. And I think a lot of new direct buyers just take the UY assigned to them (whichever the Guides are told to sell at the time) - very few are as knowledgeable as the people on these boards. We bought in November 1997 and were assigned a September UY, which has turned out to be perfect for us but is one of the least common UY at BWV, just by luck.

thanks @CarolynFH for catching my error; there were three phases and I didn't call-out the second one ...

1. resort kept all use years in roughly in balance; required DVC to sell from multiple units (one unit for each use year) at the same time during initial sales (OKW only)
2. no requirement to keep use years balanced but each unit (group of villas) within a resort had the same use year; once a use year was set for a unit, it couldn't be changed; ∴ when DVC re-acquires points, it cannot change the use year (BWV through PVB)
3. complete flexibility for use year assignment; each unit within a resort can have a mix of use years and DVC can change use years for re-acquired points before selling them again; note this does not apply to owners, they cannot re-assign use years, only DVC can when re-acquiring points to sell to new owners (CCV + RVA for initial sales, now retroactively for all DVC resorts)

Correct. Now if you or anyone else has any insight into DVD’s process in assigning UY to various units, I’d love to hear it!
