Use of parking trams w/out parking

A group of 10 of us are staying at the Residence Inn Maingate. According to Google Maps, we are a stone's throw from the Pumba parking lot. If we chose to walk to the parking lot, not park or pay for parking, can we still use the free shuttle to get onto property? Just wondering if that'd save money and legs instead of parking or walking from the hotel to Disneyland. Appreciate your advice!

Yes, you could, but we usually just walked. You have to walk into the parking area and I believe the busses are in the back of the lot. (Maybe someone will know for sure.)

The shuttles are in the south west corner on Disney Way. But they usually don't run from the lot much after it's full, and that takes about an hour. I'm not sure if they let guests use the shuttles on days that they use that lot for CM parking. When I park there I usually just walk.
