Hi! I know some expert here will know the answer to my question. I am trying to book a vacation online and member services is not open yet. I have banked points and I understand that these will be used first for a new booking, however, in the event I cancel this stay, what happens to my banked points? Do I lose them or do they become banked again? My concern is that my banked points will be used at a hotel for the first two nites stay and I am unsure of our arrival day because I haven't searched for air tix yet. Thanks so much!:thumbsup2

If you cancel, all points are returned to the UY that the reservation was to take place in. Any banked (or borrowed) points will remain in that status and must be used before the end of the UY or they will expire.

if you have to call MS to cancel a night, be sure to request that they free up current pts rather than banked pts. (then verify online that that is what happened.)

at that point you can bank current pts forward to the next year as long as you are not past your banking window.

If you use points for a non-DVC hotel stay, those points become reservation points and can only be used for another non-DVC stay if you cancel. If you modify a non-DVC stay and it requires less points, the leftover points can only be used for a non-DVC stay and you have to pay an additional $95 transaction fee to change the reservation.
