If you buy a resale DVC through a broker other than Disney what does use month mean? Forgive me as I am new to this and just exploring options.

UY has to do with when you need to bank your points and effects you if you need to cancel your vacation. If you’re UY is Aug and you plan a trip for June, then have to cancel 31 days prior you are past your banking window now you have limited time to use them prior to their expiration.

the same thing as it means if you buy directly from disney. (in other words, it has nothing to do with the date you purchase.)

it basically affects when you "use" your pts for a stay (therefore the reason for the name: "use year month" or "use year") and also when you can bank your pts into the next use year (during the first 8 months of your UY).

there's a lot to learn, so you might just want to settle in and read this:

Buying the correct UY gives you the maximum benefit and flexibility when using your points as posted above.

For reasons that only Disney knows, they don't offer you all of the UY's when selling direct, even though they can. They like February for some reason. :confused3

This makes it harder to find all of the UYs later via resale, come to think of it, maybe that's their reason.
