USAir has made lot of changes to their flights out of Syracuse NY. Our times have changed a little bit. The big thing is the type of plane we are flying on has changed. We are now flying on a Dehavilland Dash 8 Tuboprop instead of a 737. Has anybody ever been on one of these? What are they like? Is there room for carryon luggage? There is 7 of flying 4 adults and 3 children. I would be very thankful for any info.

Ouch! Those are some small planes! There is room for small carry-on items that you can put under your seat, but anything bigger than that will probably have to be checked. Keep your essential carry-ons separate from stuff you'll be willing to check if necessary.

If your items are too large for the overhead bins they will take them at the plane. There is a rack there for you to put your stuff on. When you step off the plane they are there waiting for you. So no waiting.

They are a small plane but not bad. I have flown them many times with USAirways.

Just wanted to say "hi" neighbor and hope you have a great trip. After much searching for good airfare/schedules out of Syracuse, I ended up with Delta. USAir even sent me a $150 voucher (problems on previous flight) for future flight and still ended up being cheaper with better schedules on Delta for our family of 4. Syracuse seems to be getting worse and worse with airlines. Hopefully Destiny USA will take off and help the airport.

I know there is nothing I can do about it, but my original reason for picking the flghts I did, was they were both legs were on larger jets. Now the Phily to Syracuse leg on our return trip is on a DH Dash 8 Turboprop. USair has realy droped off their service to Syracuse. It makes me wish I waited till JETBlue flights were out. Live and learn I guess.

US Airways is going under a lot of changes. Here in Pittsburgh even though we are a hub they are switching to lots of the regional jets.

They aren't bad and still are non stops.

A regional jet would be better than a trubo prop. I called USair and they said thing will probably change again by the time we fly.

WAY TO GO SYRACUSE ORANGEMEN!!!!!!!!!!!

I have flown on the DH-8 several times. It is small, but have never had trouble with small carry on. I got my wife to finally fly on 1 last year on our way to Orlando, and she is scared of heights and has not flown much. She was worried until she got on and we were in the air. Even with a semi bumpy ride, she was OK. And said she liked it better than the regional jets. In fact we will be flying on one again in June with our 2 DSs.

The back row is usually 5 seats that go all the way across, and the middle seat has a lot of leg room. When we flew last year, that is where we sat with her sister and husband, and I was very comfortable, and I am a large person.

Did you ask if you could change flights for a larger plane? They changed our flights when the same thing happened (and out of Syracuse too!). I wish Jet Blue would come to Binghamton, but for now am glad that Delta has. We always have problems with USAirways.
