US to lift travel ban for foreign air travellers who show proof of vaccination

So I travelling home today from Orlando and enquired about getting a third shot. They said I'm eligible and to just give them the date I got my pfizer shot. Ultimately I decided not to do it 1. Because I am hopeful the issue will be resolved by the next time I travel and 2. Because I didn't want to risk not feeling well halfway through our flight and then have to deal with the nightmare that is toronto airport customs and another hour long drive home.

Seriously, if I had known this I would've done it, only thing I would've been concerned with was if it would be accepted since one of the doses was done here. I wouldn't have worried regarding customs since we have nexus and that was only 20 mins long. I really wish I had known I could do this. :(

I flew home to TO yesterday from Cancun. I was asked for my ArriveCAN confirmation twice by Air Canada. And once by customs in TO.

Also had to show proof of both vaccine doses to Air Canada - also twice.

And had to show my negative PCR test result to both Air Canada and TO customs.

Everyone asked for everything.

I think everyone keeps having different experiences. When we came home from Disney on Sept 25th we were asked to see our negative test results only once when we were checking our bags at the airport. They didn't ask us at the gate or at customs. I found that very odd though, maybe they could see the info in arriveCAN or our Nexus helped. Mind you we also uploaded our info when we checked in for our flight.

They likely assume that you have uploaded to the ArriveCAN. If customs/airline asks for that and you don't have it well, you are out of luck.

Has anyone seen how we will show proof of Vaccination for travel within Canada? I am in BC so we have the QR code we show to go into restaurants etc. Or will it be the actual vaccination card?

Anyone in the GTA know if this will apply to GO Trains,,my neighbour is an engineer on VIA and it applies,,,but GO trains,,,how will they even check,,,????

Also, I expect the amount of time someone is on a GO train is much less than on a VIA rail train. That, along with the difficulty of checking and enforcing might be why they aren't doing it.

In NS, our metro buses are considered an essential service, so they do not fall under the POV. Just masking.
This. Most public transportation is considered essential. People need to get to work, grocery store, etc. I don't think they can require proof.

From what I've read it sounds like you will use whatever your provincial vaccination passport is. So you'd use your QR code.

I hope they are clear on specifically which ones are covered. E.g. is it all versions of AZ, or just the specific ones WHO authorized, etc >> I guess the bigger question is are all the versions of all the covid-19 vaccines that were authorized for use in Canada included among the list of what the US will accept, or are there any that are left out ? the mixed dose being a separate additional issue.

Looking forward to them releasing the actual regulations.

Has anyone had to show their vaccination status in the US? As I am wondering what you actually have to show. My second does says I Pfizer, How are they going to know what my first dose was are they requiring us to show proof of our first dose as well this is where my confusion is setting in. I still think this will be cleared up soon I mean our Prime Minister was Mixy matchy as it is over 2 million Canadians I can’t imagine the Americans not allowing us in nor forcing us to get a third vaccine shot plus all of those European visitors.

The showing I have heard of is for cruises, and they want to see both doses to ensure the timing is correct between them, you can't just show the second dose paper.

There are various vaccine requirements in the U.S. depending on where you are at but they want to see full vaccination which for 2 dose means 2 doses for 1 dose vaccines means 1 (for the moment). Our CDC cards have room for several doses on the same card although various places have done things differently. My place put stickers on (with pertinent information) leaving little room for a 3rd dose or booster shot to be listed but yeah the design was meant to allow multiple on same card.

Maui has a requirement for indoor dining where you have to show your vaccine card. Honolulu has a requirement for showing vaccine card or negative covid test for multiple indoor places. NYC has vaccine requirements for showing your vaccine card for a variety of indoor places. LA just became one of the strictest in the U.S. with requiring proof of full vaccination for "indoor areas including restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, convention centers, card rooms, museums, malls, play areas, spas, salons and indoor city facilities" And so on.

The mixing is obviously an issue about admittance but if that is given the OK these mandates and ordinances in various parts of the U.S. are usually written with requirement of providing proof of full vaccination in mind.

According to the WHO website, 7 Covid vaccines have been approved by them, including the Oxford AZ and the Covidshield AZ.

Well, I did it...changed my Orlando flights to Vegas. My daughter and I will rent a car and do a road trip, hiking and avoiding people. I don't think I'll be comfortable in a crowd for quite some time yet and even though crowds are "low" these days, there will still be way way more people there than I've seen since this all started. We'll give it a few years and go back when covid is (hopefully) in the rear view mirror and the new Universal park opens. Until then, I think we'll stick to road trips and hiking. In the meantime, I'll be reading trip reports and getting a grasp on how this genie system will work. BTW....still feeling great after my third dose. Bill Gates continues to chirp away day and night (doesn't the man have a job or some hobbies?) but it seems the microchip has lodged somewhere near my feet so he isnt quite as loud anymore. I can finally get some sleep. Happy travels to everyone.
